Concert Etiquette-Tall people

I'm taking this from the pumpkins thread.

No. Be serious. That's a law. Do you really want to be the 6'+ a-hole in the front that everyone can't see over? A little respect, please. If you've been genetically blessed than it's your duty to stand in the back. I've never NOT been in the back for a club show.
I'm 5'2" and I know I have to line up way before doors open. I'm fine with that. I don't think tall peeps should be forced to the back though they need to learn not to be assholes when in the front. 1. Stop dancing, pumping your arms in the air and taking pictures all night long-I only have a 1 inch view of the stage between your ear and your shoulder, when you move I completely lose my view. 2. I get there before doors open, wait 2 hours for the headliner, then just as they take the stage you wiggle your way in front of me…don't give me that look when you feel my beer running down your back, you deserved it. 3. Yes I will let your 10 year old kid in front of me but your 5'10" ass needs to stand behind me.
See you all tonight, hopefully behind me.

If you have a tall person in front of you at a concert, I've found the most appropiate way to address the issue is to simply take a step back and kick them swiftly behind the knee. They go down like the world trade center buildings.

Generally, I tend to stay to the back or the sides. But if it is not yet crowded when I arrive, and if I feel like staying closer to the front and/or center, then nobody has any room to complain if they choose to stand behind my 6'5" frame.

i prefer to stand in the front. in fact, i always try to. but typically on the side front… and i'm a tall girl - 5'9ish in flats.
but no one messes with me or gripes usually, unless it's another girl who is of midget status.

Being 6 feet tall, I usually stand a bit back but unless you are at the wall, you are going to be blocking someone. I hate the people who keep taking pictures and want to full access to walk through the crowd so they can get that one perfect shot for their blog.

agree about the "windshield wiper" swaying being annoying. forward/back motion is okay, but constant side-to-side motion makes your body be 3x as wide and impossible to see around.
But staying to the back, why? For all you know someone a foot taller than them is in their line of sight.

Don't blame the tall guy just because you were too lazy to get your ass to the show before he did.

Ok, I am 6 feet tall even. Is this considered tall? Either way, I will be right up front…

Ok. Maybe I should have had a disclaimer. I really don't care if I'm as close as possible to the front. It's a CLUB not a football stadium. The farthest point from the stage at the 9:30 club is still pretty close. I don't understand how being ten feet away from band X is any different than being one hundred and fifty feet away from band X. It seems all a bit Bay City Rollers fan club but I'm no killjoy. Please don't flame. I just don't want to be standing in front of someone who can't see the stage when I couldn't care less how close I am.

You must've just skimmed my post. I have no problem with anyone who arrives before me. My problem is with the 5'9" girls who bounce their way up to the front after the rest of us have been waiting there for hours.

Before breaking out the kung fu, you might try asking if you can get in front of them, especially if you're really short. Some of us tall guys are actually pretty nice if you're pretty nice, and that's a lot less likely to result in fisticuffs.

Nope not directed at you–directed at those who do push midgets out of the way.

Who unfortunately, is normally me. I'm always one of the tall (6') jerks up front because my girlfriend is about 5'1''. I say unfortunately, because #1 I've always felt it was bad etiquette and #2 I hate showing up so damned early.
The worst people though? The meatheads who push their way up front for the headliner in front of the 5' girls who have been there since the doors opened.

Exactly.
