smoking?

Is smoking allowed in the club? If, not, how strictly is it enforced?

The reason i ask is that my wife is pregnant, she would like to go see a show with me, but she won't go if it's full of smoke. I've been there probably 25 times and I just can't remember if people were smoking or not?
Sorry, wrong forum. I'll post it in the faq.
Yeah people smoke but fwiw I don't think one show will be harmful. Of course though your wife will do what she will do and I can understand that.

Both my kids went to the 9:30 in-utero. Me and the wife saw Iggy there when she was just about 9 months pregnant with our first. I had a few friends who worked at the club at the time though so they set us up with a comfy spot. We had a great time that night and everytime we hear Iggy or the Stooges we always think of that show and how little Sophie's first big rock show was so great. It's probably my favorite of all the great memories I have at the 9:30 club.
Also some shows are specifically non-smoking per the artist's request. It could be one of those shows (Chick Corea for instance was smoke free). So mention the show with the question in FAQ.
The club should ban smoking. There is no value in it whatsoever.
A lot of people smoke when they drink, so if they drink they want to smoke. Don't let them smoke, and they often will drink less. Therefore the value to the club in letting people smoke is that they get more money.
One random compromise to the whole smoking-ban debate might be banning smoking at performance venues, but not all bars.

If you want to see X band, it's not like they're playing all over town, and you can pick the non-smoking place to go see them. You have no choice.

But places that are simply bars with no ticketed performance events would be free to continue allowing smoking. This way people would be free to continue choosing their hangout of choice, be it smoking or non, without necessarily being forced to be at a smoking venue due to a unique, nowhere-else event.

This is probably a dumb idea waiting for holes to be shot in it, though.
or they could only allow smoking in a certain area, like the upstairs, and people would still buy drinks. i would love to see it smoke free, the only thing i hate about most shows there is the smoke being blown in my face.
i hate when ppl in the front smoke. you can't get away from it. some of them are under 18, and at the black cat (the only time i ever went) this bitch was drunk and smoking and i got burned…stupid bitch…
just a short anecdote…

was in a double-t-diner last night in the smoking section, while a middle-aged woman was pacing back and forth through the smoking section with a baby in her hands….ahh the common sense!
Ban it. I'd go to more shows if it were banned. That also = more money to the club.
it's not that bad at 9:30. where it would really make a difference is at black cat.

liberal
One downside to no smoking in bars and clubs….you can now smell every fart, body odour, cheap and nasty perfume instead. Mind you, your clothes don't smell of farts the next day.
damnit people, it's rock 'n roll. booze and cigarettes are just a part of the culture. what about the musician's that like to smoke on stage. quit being babies.

Wah wah wah…..prtybby called me a baby.

Seriously, with your way of thinking, it should be compulsory to have a cigerette hanging out of your pie-hole while you ride a Harley Davidson….or call everyone "my nigger" and wear clothes that are 8 sizes to big for you if you listen to hip hop. Baaaa - baaaa!

So is Heroin, cocaine and pot, but those are not allowed in the club.

The difference is Herion, cocaine and pot are not allowed anywhere and are illegal. Booze and cigarettes are not illegal and therefore, allowed in the club.
