What the hell, let's start a new thread.
- If you're going, meet in Back Bar after the show for a drink or two? (Will they let us stay downstairs when there's another show afterwards? If not, we can head to DC9…)
- Anyone know anything about The Shys?

I'll be there. I've been looking forward to this show for months, mostly because it's my first 9:30 Club show of the year (actually, my first 9:30 Club show since the Death Cab show in late October 2005; I've been going into withdrawal), but also because "Rock and Roll Queen" is a killer track that I added to my favorites play list the first time I heard it. I'd certainly like to hang out after the show as well, either Back Bar or DC9.

lyrics can be sticking point with me, but have seen the lyrics to "New Day Rising" one of Husker Du's best and the Beatles had some "silly" lyrics in their early days. "Baby You Drive My Car" Presentation has a lot to do with it as well, does it have a catchy hook, doesn't involve some guy screaming or thinking they are funk artist, etc

Hey, I love songs with good lyrics as much as anyone, but you don't need to have good lyrics in order to have a good song. There's more to songcraft than lyrics, not the least of which is that intangible quality of performance. And I think "Rock and Roll Queen" is very well performed. Also, in principal, I do not believe lyrics should be judged outside of the context of the music.
I'm not saying the Subways are going to change the face or music or anything. They're just fun to listen to. You're welcome to your opinion.

I can't remember at the moment which tunes on "New Day Rising" are Grant Hart's, but all the cheezy lyrics on "Flip Your Wig" I contributed to him. I place a lot of stock in lyrics too, but sometimes, you've got to feign ignorance.
I was thinking of going to the subways show too. I'm not well versed in their work (no pun intended, but its $10 and will be over early.

I take your point. I didn't realize your were talking Track 1 specific.

I've always kinda thought the opposite - I like that track, but I think it's my least favorite on the album. This should be a fun show.

I am thinking about it.
Not a sellout right? 'Cause I just plan to meander down…
Sometimes they will let you stay downstairs…If there's a line for the bathroom you best hold it. (NO going upstairs)
I'm not big on DC9 but I'd hang for a few at the club before / after.

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers…
I thought the song was kinda catchy when I first heard it, but then realized that there were no lyrics. Now the song just annoys me. But hey, it's just my opinion!

We will be there. Coming up from Richmond as usual. This will be our 4th trip to the club in about 10 days! Is it officially time for us to move to DC? :)
