Song[s] of the year '07

a few i liked (very unscientific):

apples in stereo - can you feel it?
spoon - rhythm and soul
arcade fire - intervention
against me! - thrash unreal
klaxons - golden skans
panda bear - bros
blitzen trapper - country caravan
my favorites so far:
lets dance to joy division - the wombats
girls who play guitars - maximo park
can you feel it - apples in stereo
and the entire maps album - i couldnt even pick just one
I have no idea as to how Bros slipped my mind.

I want to change mine. :)
Thirded…and maybe add Comfy in Nautica as well. Those songs are near perfect. Oh, and Crystal Cat…I don't really love the Dan Deacon album, but that is a killer song.

Great song! I played that during dinner at a wedding two weekends ago and, more than any song I played, people came up to me and asked me who it was. I think I even sold a few tickets to their show next week because the show was moved from the Mezzanine to the Fillmore.
The New Pornographers - Adventures In Solitude
The National - Mistaken for Strangers

They're generic, I know.
According to iTunes:

1. Gogol Bordello - Wonderlust King
2. Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
3. Spoon - The Underdog
4. Against Me! - Stop
5. Mad Caddies - State of Mind
Low - Hatchet
St. Vincent - Your Lips are Red
Budos Band - His Girl

I also really liked Feist's One, Two, Three, Four (though it did get a little old once it was all over tv)
The Bishop Allen song came out on their July 2006 EP.

Christ, this happens every year. Stop being so pedantic. First of all, it doesn't freaking matter wheter a song is "new" or "new to you".

Second of all its on an album released in July of 2007, which is probably how the majority of people came across it, not on some inside baseball, "hey lets release an EP every month in 2006" project.

well if allmy$$ claims its the best song of the year 07 and perhaps a fan of the band - he'd know they released the song in 06 - on yes their full year of EPs. We are talking about song of the year - not album of the year.

I'm about to have the fucking yawn of the year.

Weren't these songs technically reworked for the new full-length? In that case, isn't it a new recording that wasn't available in 2006?

And why are you questioning allmy$$'s fan-ness? Just because he may or may not have had the time to check out one of the 400 kajillion 2006 releases that were hyped online? Give me a break.

and i nver saw any mention of that song being reworked - just that a bunch of songs from the EP made the cut. was just an observation and probably the fact that ive been listening to that song forever that i knew it wasnt released in 07.

next time ill shut up and go with the masses because you obviously know a lot more about music than me.

Thank you! Now if the rest of you would cave and realize this simple fact, the world would be a much better place…

BIG time second to Klaxons. That's an amazing single. Catchy as anything released this year.

Intervention is up there, but Keep the Car Running is the Arcade Fire track that I'd pick.

Peter, Bjorn and John's Young Folks is definitely on my list.

Some others to throw out there:

Radiohead - Reckoner
Roisin Murphy - Overpowered
Justice - D.A.N.C.E.
Georgie James - Cake Parade
LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum
The National - Fake Empire
The Field - Everday
THE VIRGINS - RICH GIRLS
and, for the love of christ, the PB&J record came out in 2006.
