any news on hfstival this year?
Someone is obviously overreacting… Phantom Planet. That could be interesting -but better on the street stage.
I LOVE PHANTOM PLANET!!yesssssssss!but i really dont like eminem…why is he headlining?I think everybody should call HFS and say that Jennifer On Sunday needs to play the local stage, at least!
so i just got off the phone with my buddy over at hfs and i got some more band info.
x-ecutioners (i think we already knew this)
alien ant farm
papa roach
citizen cope
sev
unwritten law
trik turner (i think we knew this one too)
goldfinger
moth
black rebel motorcycle club
sum 41 (did i already post this one?)
the strokes
when they get me more info i'll definitely let you guys know. oh and thanks for the tip on rhett.
The Strokes are in Europe both days of the HFSTIVAL. I think you're "friend" lied.
would you like to place a friendly wager on that? i'm confident with my source.
False information leaks. Wonderful. I'm skipping the festival this year and will be lounging at the beach
for the weekend. (if anyone cares).
for the weekend. (if anyone cares). Not to take sides here, but The Strokes just spent the last two months in Europe. It would seem funny for them to go back so soon.
I just try to sometimes spice up an often boring board. I'm glad you notice GGW!
The Strokes just completed their European tour and were supposed to be taking some time off. I kind of suspected that they might be tapped for the HFStival but hoped they would record their new tunes instead. Good to see one decent band on there though (like BRMC) -in addition to the Strokes.
my apologies, i misread something. flame away.
So does anybody REALLY know what is going on this year??
When is DC going to get a radio station aimed at the still hip over 30 crowd?
the line-up i gave earlier in this string is true. those are the bands thus far. trust me (though you don't even know me
)
)Apparently, the announcement will be made on Thursday. The line up is really not looking very promising. At least last year, there were good bands on the street stage. Sigh.
not sure why HFS gets bands to play their show that they don't even promote or play on their station. Oh well, ill save my money.
with them not being focused on their music that must be the reason these other stations have jumped passed them in ratings. why would you put eminem on your biggest show of the year? get a band that you actually play! damn, you'd think they could at least get that right. i feel sorry for my buddy that works there. he used to be a fan of the station and he doesn't even listen to them anymore and he works there! yeah, rhett, when are they gonna get a station for the 30+ crowd that actually sounds good?
Line up sucks so far. Except for BRMC & Strokes. Well, guess I'll be saving some money and brain cells this summer.
WRNR in Annapolis (which was started by the guy who originally founded HFS before selling it to the corporation that owns it now) used to be good. Some might argue that it didn't have enough indie rock to keep the hipsters happy, but it did feature alot of stuff that wasn't getting played anywhere else on local radio. But then WRNR was sold to a corporation a couple of year ago, and now all I see on their playlist is mainstream crap like Mick Jagger, Dave Matthews, Natalie Merchant, Train, Elvis Costello, Rusted Root, etc…yuck…and they only play the hit single now where they used to be all over the albums.
Oh well there's still the internet!
Some towns have cool college radio stations that actually play indie music… Maybe this has been discussed before, but what internet radio stations does everyone listen to?
