Yet Another Just Announced Commetary Thread

1) I only recognize one name in the bottom half but yes, the top half is well worth traveling for, IMO.

2) A couple acts pulled out of the BK one a couple weeks ago with little notice (Merzbow is a huge gaping pussy and is afraid of swine flu) so I guess they're trying to cover their asses although that line does sound awkward.

3) It made me chuckle but I still think Aids Wolf trumps everything else I've heard.

Edit: and The Seal Cub Clubbing Club is a close 2nd.

maybe for you, but i'm canadian.  that band name is the equivalent for me of "saturday night cruising" or "the hometown team boosters".
Trashcan Sinatras @ RNRH

PASS

I'm a big fan of their early work, but their show at the club in 2004 was a total snoozefest….  Very little of their upbeat early material and a total fanboy show.  Lots of requests for obscure material.
well that sucks because NYC was a ton of their early stuff. It was really awesome! Im definitely seeing them again although nothing will compare when i saw them play with radiohead.

The Horrors

same night as weakerthans @ 930 - which is the better show?  i've never seen either band.
I know nothing about the Weakerthans but have seen both the Horrors and Crocodiles in the last two months so I'm going with the Weakerthans.

But I did find both bands impressive (wish Crocodiles relied a little less on pre-recorded tracks, though).

Woo hoo! Thank you for posting this! Too bad it's the D.A.R., but I'll take it. Any word on pre-sales?

American Express presale began about 45 minutes ago, and lasts through Sunday evening at 10pm.

thanks for the heads up.  got 2 "cheap" seats– $228.50, which is totally worth the opportunity to hear astral weeks live.  yay!
this one is for hutch and his posse
It would be really nice if an admin could make one of these "Just Announced Commentary" threads sticky so that's it's always located on the front page just under the "Just Announced" thread.

Also, do admins have the capability to move posts from one thread to another?
good suggestion, Darth Ed!
Yes they do. But moving every post in JA that wasn't an actual announcement would be a gigantic pain in the ass.

How about a Dr.Dog date???

how about asking that in "hey seth"??

how bout' ya blow me?

i'd consider it, if you had better taste in music.

A/S/L?

again, dr dog - and an inability to ask questions in the right thread.  you have no chance :P
what is a/s/l?  i feel confused after my nap. in which i slept way too long.  but my dream of being chased by this thing that came out of the ground and could cut through metal was really neat.
a/s/l is old-school chat-speak for a call for "age/sex/location" information - the cry of millions of early 2000's IRC geeks reaching out for the closest thing to sexual contact they'd come to (AKA information).

That dream of yours sounds way cool, tho potentially stressful.
my dreams as of late have been playing out like bizarro, horror films with fleshed out scenes and direction to rival that of what shit has come out in the last two years.  my nap dream was shot in snow fuzzy white cinematography, with a cast of atleast five being killed horribly one by one.  two of us were left being rescued by a car before i woke up.  my dream last night took the cake.  most people would not use the following adjective to describe the experience . . . but it was clear to me that i was in hell, and it was awesome.  the metaphors to real life scenarios, the scenery and situations that were made to leave impressions of forced imagination.  and i think rasputin the mad monk, and members of marilyn manson's original lineup (in what had to be the best make up i have ever seen) were there.
and totally off topic of people telling to others to suck it, fuck off, etc…., i just saw the avatar preview.  dear god.  cameron is genius.  nothing more to say.  genius.
The Hold Steady show on Saturday is an early show, but nothing is listed in the late slot.  With the Fest the next day, could we be getting a surprise show from one of the bands on Saturday night?
nin = great
I was just wondering if there would be a late show (and what it would be) as well.

<checks email for blast>

Edit: Nothing in blast but there has to be something going on. Hold Steady at 8:30? Private event, perhaps?

normally i'd sign up for this show because, well, habit really.  but i feel entirely comfortable skipping this one - new album does little for me, and they're a dreadfully boring live band.
