Another snow day

The only thing worse for this board than all of us getting older is a light dusting of snow across the DC area….

Light!?!?!?!?  :o ::) :o ::)
(I know your are just ragging on us.)

You and Mr. Natural (since he loves it so much) are more than welcome to come finish shoveling out my car. I need to get to the store and, due to health reasons, have not been able to finish getting mine dug out. Have been trying to do so on the installment plan. Walked along the side of my car and the snow almost came up to my hips! (And I'm not short.)
I'm with hutch.  I feel like I was beaten up yesterday from the amount of shoveling, but man, I do love a snow day.  God bless working from home.  I might even be more productive here…and it's so much fun walking the dog in the drifts.

Why would I rag on you guys Jag?  Have you seen the clouds this morning?  I haven't seen the sun in almost 15 hours!!!

With the Washington-Baltimore area still digging out from a weekend storm that left record snowfalls in some areas, the latest blast of winter is going to be accompanied by heavy winds, which will make it feel worse.  6 to 12 inches of snow may fall along a corridor from Washington to Boston, and some areas may receive as much as 18 inches. The snow will be followed by cold air that will drop temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below normal and be accompanied by heavy winds.

^ Which is why I don't want too much of the snow on my roof to melt or blow away. Enough to keep the roof from collapsing but I've noticed that it's helping to insulate my apartment a little. At least better than the crappy insulation (or lack of) that's supposed to do so.
The new data we're analyzing portrays a rather ominous picture for the region, beginning tomorrow afternoon. Two areas of low pressure, one from the north and one from the south, will likely merge off the mid-Atlantic coast developing into a very powerful storm Tuesday night and Wednesday. Though this storm will not have the same amount of moisture as Snowmageddon, models suggest a deeper storm (i.e. more intense meteorologically) which will pose a significant risk of high winds and additional power outages.

The probability of potentially dangerous conditions is highest north and east of the beltway and especially as you head towards Baltimore and Philadelphia. However, even our southern suburbs may experience periods of heavy snow and wind.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

When will the snow start? Between mid-day and mid-afternoon tomorrow.

When it will end? Probably around late afternoon Wednesday – later north and east.

How much?: Our best bet is 5-10" in the metro region, but 8-14" as you head north and east towards Baltimore. South and southwest of the Fairfax County, 3-6" is most likely.

Could it be more or less? Yes. Double digit totals (10" or more) remain a possibility throughout the metro region (25% chance). By the same token, if the coastal storm forms too far north, lighter amounts from 1-5" or so might do it.

How bad will the winds be? By very late Tuesday night and into Wednesday, sustained winds may reach 25-35 mph, with higher gusts. Assuming there is falling snow, this could create blizzard conditions.

the whole roof collapsing thing is a bit worrisome.  My place was built in 1900.  I've got to assume the roof is pretty tough but who knows.  I'd say the odds of killing myself are much higher if I go up there and shovel so I'm gonna leave it and hope for the best.

This is great!

I'd like to see it customized with the back looking like a tour t-shirt. At the top, 'The Snowmageddon Tour 2010'. Underneath, list the locations with their total snowfalls.
so much snow down there. I wish we'd get some real snow in Manhattan. We're expecting some on Wed. which means it'll be a light dusting, if that.

Oh I totally agree its really awesome, but only when there aren't any obligations.

Snow is fun on a snow day. Snow is a hassle when you have to go to either work or school. I was taking deliveries at work on Saturday morning here in Richmond. That was fun.

basically, snow is fun for maximum one day after – no work, you can walk in the middle of the street, everyone's in a good mood.  After that it's a cold, nasty slushy slog and even if work is closed you know shit is piling up on your desk.     So the key is to enjoy that one day as much as possible (unless you're without power, in which case it's harder to do even that).
For me it's not the work piling up it's not being able to enjoy the time off w/ this amount of snow to shovel and prepping w/ stocking supplies beforehand. When we were kids our parents did it for us. ;) And those who now have kids are also looking to go back to work too, probably. :)
Federal Gov't closed Tuesday as well. Man, this is great.
Sorry guys. The party has been cancelled. Finally got my car out.

Er, ah…. or maybe I should say, the party has been postponed until Wednesday.  :-\
holy crap!  Time to head out for a beer.

sucks, i have to go to work tomorrow….every single one of my friends is off though.  sounds like tuesday night / wednesday is going to be awful
