New Order gets back together without Hook (aka payback's a bitch)

Unreal

Gillian's quote seems to indicate this is more permanent than not…"It's been a long ten years since I took a break from the band, so I I'm really happy to be back, and this is a great place to start."

Its no secret how badly things deteriorated…and Sumner - and maybe the others I'm not sure- did not like Hook touring Joy Division

THis was Peter Hook last week (he is going to respond on this "reunion" tomorrow)…

Last week, Hook told Slicing Up Eyeballs that he and his former New Order bandmates were discussing when and how to release seven remaining outtakes from the sessions of the band?s final album, 2005′s Waiting for the Sirens? Call. He described the talks as contentious (?They keep elbowing me out all the time. Every time I try to do something, I get outvoted.?), but gave no indication he was aware of the decision to reform New Order without him.

It's a shame that, I thought Bad Lieutenant weren't bad!
Saw the original line-up twice back in the 80's.  Most boring live band ever.
Never saw them live… to me Joy Division/New Order are the most important band of the past 30+ years.

Who knew they'd end up like Pink Floyd?

You're actually not the first person I've heard that from……why did you go a second time though?

Your definition of "important" isn't like everybody else's, is it?  For what?  Making a 12" that looked like a floppy disc?  Doing a lot of drugs?  Running a club into the ground?

Let's face it, New Order haven't been the same since Ian Curtis left.  Or was that Syd Barrett?

Brian
Is any band actually "important?"
only 1 band is important . . . and their bass player killed himself sometime ago.  their last album wasn't that great, but their logo is immortal.

he didn't kill himself, he was killed in a tour bus accident.

Are you sure he isn't talking about the Dead Milkmen?

Brian
yeah . . . who was killed in a tour bus accident.

the only person i can think of is cliff burton.  yeah, i think sweets was talking about metallica.  funny.  i used to listen to them not stop like a freak . . . then the black album came out.  the end of that.
yes, i knew he was talking about the dead milkmen; and yes, i was trying to make a funny by commandeering his insinuation.  but i guess if i have to explain it…

First time was with Gene Loves Jezebel and Echo and the Bunnymen
Second time was with Sugarcubes and Public Image Limited

Both shows at MPP both times New Order was the middle band.  I guess a good place for a band that knows they are incredibly boring.

I can imagine them being much more of a studio band than live act. They are a pretty bloody incredible studio band though.
how was Gene Loves Jezebel? were they the headliner?

Ain't that the truth. Such a shame.

Gene Loves Jezebel were the opener and they were pretty amazing.  This was before the mainstream change that they made.  Echo were pretty amazing as well.  I guess that made New Orders performance all that more unexciting.
