RIP - Josh Burdette - thatguy

I went to go see The Mission tonight. I was slightly nervous wondering how it would feel to go to the club and not see him there, and surely enough there was a much more somber tone around the venue. The opening band had a cheers at the end of their set for him. I imagine there will be more to come as he was as well respected by artists as he was to us.

I didn't know Josh all too well, but I spoke with him on many occasions about touring bands that we're coming to our venues (I work at The National in Richmond) and little things here and there. He came to The National several times - he never missed a Clutch show. He was always friendly and well respected by myself and my coworkers.

I choked up & teared up a bit when I saw the table at the show tonight. I left a card on the table addressed to "Seth & 9:30 Family".

I was in that opening band last night, and did the cheers. :)
I'm still too raw & stunned to process this & find myself crying at the oddest moments. I had a Words With Friends game going with Josh and I was waiting for his next move, so I can't resign & let him win. But all the while I sit there feeling like I'm the one who lost. But the last word he spelled was "woofed" so that makes me smile.
And I cannot even bring myself to listen to stuff like Social D or Frank Turner or I'll totally lose it.

love this interview clip..not sure if its been posted..its the most I ever heard him talk by far… the whole thing is just really depressing.. part of me really wants to know what happened… part of me doesn't…it ain't going to change anything… if it really was a suicide its just so tragic at least to me…..

This is so good
that one made me tear up
Happy Birthday btw….

Hey……Seeing as Josh has been a (positive and pleasant) influence on everyone who's paths he crossed what do you all think of Seth having a "THAT GUY" t-shirt made up? Profits could go to a charity or organization that was near and dear to his heart.

Maybe I'm overreacting here but having a very hard time coming to terms with this one…

You're not Manc, and you're not alone.

i was thinking that we should seize on the upwelling of good will and raise some money for a good cause.  every year josh the playoff beard thing for a children's charity.  another alternative might be for a mental health support institution/crisis prevention.

I was giving the beard thing a thought myself.  Maybe we can each pledge $X per caps win this year and at the end of the year send it all in to the selected cause.  I am not good at organizing things like this and keeping track of who pledges what, but if anyone wants to do it count me in for $1 per win (even tough I am a Flyers fan).
