what was your opinion of what jj did to the star trek franchise?  most trek nerds agree that the first one was goodish, while the second one sucked major eugenic war cock.  i think abrams can be hit or miss when it comes to projects, and though i know anything will be better than the phantom menance or the clone wars, whos to say he can actually deliver something that is not just a slicked over rehashed turd.  it already appears hes going towards the tatooine side.

I do like that he is not doing all the CGI and the aliens are actual physical things

If he has found some real aliens to be in his movie it is sure to be a hit.

to me, that's meaningless.  it's like people getting all excited about someone using a vintage 60's 4-track tape machine to record an album, or getting wowed by someone who builds his own synths… who cares.  if the output is crap, who cares what tools were used.  the prequels wouldn't have sucked any less if they used puppets instead of CGI.

I look forward to what JJ can do.  I personally like the reboot of the Star Trek universe and most of what he did so far in his career.   I think the Star Wars franchise is in good hands.

(also, i am not a big Star Trek fan, or Trekkie.  I dig the series/universe, but I always liked Star Wars more)

I don't see the need for more Star Wars movies.  I don't understand why there are so many sequels and movies that are so similar.  Come up with something new.
