The Album Showdown Thread

versus

Siamese Dream

Infinite Sadness was too long, with too much filler.

Siamese Dream kicks ass from Cherub Rock till the end of the album.

(I do love both, but if I had to pick one it would be SD.  Also both have great covers, from the images down to the font)
I way prefer the first Smiths album. In fact I was listening to it last night.  The lyrics on the Queen is Dead aren't the best and most of the best songs were released as Singles before the album was released.

Perhaps it went over your head, but the albums should be from the same artist.

I thought I would change it up.  Anyway it was getting boring.

Crooked Rain as it's the only one I have.

2 vinyl copies, in fact. Not proud of that.

You've never heard the rest of their discography?

Nope!  Seen em tho!
Siamese Dream.  I don't even like Infite Sadness,

Well, if you're giving it away, sure.

I would go with the Queen is Dead but I have to say all the Smiths albums are great…. maybe the only ones i'm not as into are the collection of singles and b-sides..

I truly even love the last one so much.. i might pick the queen is dead because the boy with the thorn in his side is really hard to top but…….i like them all… meat is murder

the smiths where the last perfect band

belle and sebastian looked like they could do it but then they became a really bad joke.. there has been no band since the smiths with that perfect track record..

The last Smiths album was pretty bad.  Musically and lyrically.  I actually like some of Morrissey's early solo albums better than it.  Anyway the longer you go the harder it is to keep up a perfect record.  Depeche Mode kept it up longer than the Smiths.   Also,  I like the older Belle and Sebastian records better than the earlier ones.  Everyone except the last one was excellant though.  But they pretty much sound the same.  They aren't breaking new musical ground with each album and song.

Ill choose steaming pile of shit over flaccid masturbatory failure, by a nose.
I always much preferred Crooked Rain to Slanted..

there are too many competitions going on here.i'mgetting whiplash
I actually prefer Strangeways to The Smiths by a pretty wide margin. There's maybe three tracks on The Smiths I'd ever want to hear again.
julian . . . i take back, wanting to lick you

I think its very easy to make the argument that Morrissey kept a clean sheet from the Smiths until Vauxhall.. i think that is about 10 years… astonishing..

and all you Kill Uncle haters blow me.. I love that album.
