Record Store Day - 21 April 2018

This year some good stuff…the Pink Floyd mono piper!!!
if anyone gets their hands on the phoenix and/or tangerine dream releases, or the zep, please let me know.
You kniw dyecraig is already camped out for the Bowie!

Billy Breathes on lp for first time!
I enjoyed Record Store Day, when everybody was obsessed about it. And I mean everybody. You heard people talk about it months in advance, you heard people get their panties all wet over such a f****** thing. I don't have anything against LPS or records, They just aren't really my thing. I do find it interesting and fascinating that I used to have arguments with Azag about digital media and how I would never fall victim to it. But here I am, only a slave to digital media, and never would get involved with records. The only point of this post, is that it seems to be that not that many people are as obsessed with Record Store Day as it used to be.
Its bigger than ever…from what record store owners say….just not “hip” anymore

For me every day is RSD… but I am not really into battling people in competitive shopping
Really? I just thought in this day and age, the internet and Amazon and all of that made things such as Record Store Day a quaint novelty again. But I guess I was wrong. I always fall back to that Old Chestnut, that Americans have a five minute attention span and get tired of anything after a while.
Crooked Beat was my go-to before they moved.  They always got a big stock of what I was seeking.  Anyone have a guess at the best stores to hit this year?

Joint Custody over on U Street(?) seems to have a big selection. They have an original copy of Unknown Pleasures on the faint red vinyl on display. Too far out of my price point though.

My main get would be the Kevin Shields/Brian Eno 12"

yeah, but i doubt if i'll score any of them.
i'll gladly reimburse with $ and a free lunch.
Keep an eye on Ebay (and record store sites that have online ordering) at 8AM Sunday the 22nd to potentially pick up RSD releases at retail, that's when record stores are allowed to put their unsold stock online.
Hey Hutch-

Thought you'd be interested in these releases:

Grant Green Funk In France: From Paris to Antibes
(1969-1970) Resonance Records 3XLP  Quant.
1500

Grant Green Slick! Live at Oil Can Harry's Resonance Records 2 x LP  Quant. 1500
And you are right…very much so!

Thanks
anyone have a shop they're planning on hitting first?
They will have the grant green at cd cellar but $50-$60….man

Will probably stop by cd cellar at some point over weekend as I usually do …just not into competitive shopping
sounds like the Record Exchange in Silver Spring will have quite an inventory but may also be quite competitive….they tell me their's a dude who gets in line the night before
This year cd cellar will have the goods but yeah got to get on line…cd cellar opens one hour early

I mention this because in my experience they are a good place…for MD peeps Record Exchange may be best bet

That used to be my spot when I was a competitive shopper™ many years ago. I don't know what it's been like since 2014 or so, but if you showed up an hour early you could usually get what you wanted, but there are a few comic book guy types that line up the night before.

I'd love to go early to a shop to see what it's like, but I fear the diehards who start lining up at an ungodly hour are flippers.  Kind of sad.

There are only two on the list that I'd really like to get.  Another one or two that would be nice, but aren't must-haves. Not worth the hassle this year.
IMHO, this year is kind of weak.
