I being fully aware that there was likely some charlatan footballer sharing a last name with the more famous Morrissey did not appreciate the snark

But allegedly they are paying a signing bonuses for AI talent in the order of $100 million to

it was bound to happen, so it happened:

a new band called Velvet Sundown started climbed the Spotify charts a few months ago with their classic rock sound - and started raking in the dollars.  fans were confused about how this band came outta nowhere, had never done a live gig, released 3 albums within 2 months, and none of the band members had any social media presence outside of the band's online profiles.  pundits accused them of being an AI creation, which the band vehemently denied…

… until they didn't: Rock band with more than 1 million Spotify listeners reveals it’s entirely AI-generated — down to the musicians themselves.  also: Are The Velvet Sundown an AI Band? What We Know
