belle and sebastian 2nd show?

Well, that would seem to indicate that the second show was planned all along, in which case, I can't imagine they would be cutting the first show short at all (at least not any shorter than they were already planning to play)>

Or perhaps I'm just not cynical enough?
It didn't sell out really fast at all, and I remember some comments on this board about how surprised they were that B&S hadn't sold out yet.

If that's how the club thinks then JT should just be starting his 187th show in a row in a few minutes.

i think we need to mark this date on the calendar… the first time both ggw and kosmo didn't feel cynical about something

I'm with you guys on this one. If Markie's on board then the apocalypse is at hand….
is b&s bring over the same extended group as last time? the extra horns and strings. if thats the case there will probably be little variation in shows…

It looks like it sold out in 2-3 weeks.

Looking at their tour dates, they are playing much larger venues in most other cities, so perhaps they announced the first show and when they saw it sold out pretty fast (by DC standards), announced the second show - having planned to do two shows all along.

Either way, I don't think they are going to "tease" people at the first show as a way of conning them into buying another ticket.
I am not cynical….. If a sell shows out a month beforehand then there is obviously good demand.

They played a much larger venue before and on other dates on this tour.

just to add some cynicism……

What time does it say doors open on your ticket, Mankie?

i can't think of a single instance where the second show had a setlist any different from the first.

if you wanna see a different set, try he durham, nc show before they get to us, or maybe the nyc dates in november.

I'll check when I get home, and if it changes from the ticket…..I'll sue the bastards and get rich from it. ;)
I can't believe you people.
Elsewhere on the Forum, sueandnotu is attempting to trade her liver for Belle & Sebastian tix. Now that there's a second show, she'll be able to see them without losing a vital body part. Can't you all just be happy for her?
i'm happy

now how about a late late interpol show for those willing to do anything for a ticket…

I'm very happy for sueandnotu….she'll be able to see half a show in the early hours of the morning instead of no show….those of us who were on the ball and bought tickets the day they went on sale will now get to see half a show as a matinee instead of a full show in the evening.

Geddit?!
GREAT NEWS FOR BASEBALL FANS!!!

At tonights seventh game between the redsocks and yankees, the yankees have decided to empty the stadium during the seventh inning stretch and sell tickets for the remaining of the game. They have decided to do this because so many people who wanted to buy tickets but didn't get the arses in gear will be able to see part of the game.

Wooooooo Hooooo.
Adding a second show doesn't mean they're dividing their set in half, with half a set for each show. It means they are performing two [2] complete shows in one night. The setlist may be identical for each show, or they may change it around. That's up to B&S.

There's no way we will get the same "quality product" if they are doing two shows on the same night, and like I said earlier, I'll never buy advance tickets for a show at the 930 again….note to markie, Badly Drawn Boy is a no-no for sure now.

Having said that, it's really no biggie, if the show sucks it sucks, and life goes on. If the show starts too early for me to make it on time, then I just got ripped off $70 or whatever it was with the service fees.

Do the doors for the first show still open at 7:30pm as stated on my ticket?
Mankie, I'm amazed anyone would go to a Badly Drawn Boy show a second time. it's terrible the club would even have him

I've already seen him twice and thoroughly enjoyed both shows. I think he's a great musician and good entertainer. His 'thing' is to be disorganized like he was last time, re-starting songs a couple of times etc….if you want polished go see Britney/JT/N'syn etc.

Each to their own though.

Why not?

If you sell cars to two customers in one day, does that mean that the customers get only half the service they would have received if you had only sold one?

If I sell the same car twice, someone gets a used car!

930 is the salesman, B&S is the car..yours is a bad analogy.
But B&S do a show the night before and the night after……

I am sure every show they perform is a unique experience all the same.

Sorry Mankie, I understand your annoyance to only a very limited extent.

I dont see why it would stop you coming to see BDB. Hell I could even pick up tickets for you if you want to avoid the service charge…..

You could count it as a bribe toward further help…..
