IMP shows only nowadays…… You will have no problems getting rid of them outside of the club tonight.

Ideally, I try to park on 14th, even if it means walking a few blocks. At least it's well lit. Where I park is usually determined by availability, more than location though. Parking sucks around The Cat.

If you're really worried about your car, park in Dupont and walk from there.

happened once to me, and once to a friend. both in the neighborhood behind the black cat.

and then took about 20 minutes of driving around to find a spot before the bsp show the other week.

oh…I just totally spaced and did not realize that this show was at the Cat and not 930…it's all the same to me til I get there…sorry 930 club…I would never had knowingly been so cheesy! (about this sort of thing, anyway)

I prefer the "no parking" sign in front of the club, though there's a new upside-down U-shaped rack just installed. Without fail, though, some idiot has parked in such a way that only one fits. There are also plenty of parking meters nearby.

Haven't heard them myself but I've read several descriptions that seem to indicate they are clearly influenced by The Smiths and sometimes come across as a more melancholy sounding Blur.

Maybe those comparisons are way off, but it has definitely piqued my interest. I'll make sure I'm there for the first band tonight…

I missed the Dears.

I thought the Stars were very good. I was actually looking forward to the Stars more than BBS. Although, the lead singer looks like a cross between Bryan Adams and Chris Kattan…I found this to be distracting.

BSS were fantastic. The material was incredible live. I thought the album was great…but live was even better. Surprisingly, one of the better shows I have ever been to.

I guess you either get it or you dont…… I really hated BSS. I never new boredom could be intense.

I thought the Dears have a lot of potential. They obviously would list Radiohead among their influences, that's for sure…

I liked the Dears - especially that last tune with the long, noisy ending. I thought Stars were incredibly boring. I went downstairs after about 4 songs.

I liked BSS a lot though. I thought they definitely kicked things up a notch compared to "You Forgot It In People". All-in-all a great show.

stars were really good, i thought. i went to buy the cd (which i rarely do), but the girl in front of me got the last one. guess i wasn't the only one.

like bss alot. the less accessable stuff sounds better live. totally a get it or don't band.

one of the better shows i've been to recently. possibly because i was in a not so good mood and it really cheered me up.

First, let me say the lowlight/highlight of the night had to be smelling the Dears lead singer puking all over the toilet stall floor in the men's room as we were departing the Cat. His comment? "Oh man, I have food poisoning. I have to tell someone I just wrecked the bathroom." Priceless. I wonder how long the puke will remaim? Probably long enough so that even Mankie will get a sight of it.

Second, the music. Only saw a few songs of the Dears, but I give them a bigyawn. I thought the last song would never end, and sounded like an inferior Pink Floyd impression. Stars were pretty decent, though not outstanding. The singer's speaking voice was pretty annoying. He reminded me of a cross between the singer from Fountains of Wayne, the singer from New Order, Steve Buschemi. and a host of other nerdy twerps. We bailed before BSS. Need the beauty rest.

Christ, who wouldn't these days. I am so sick of reading about Radiohead in every single review – even the alt.country or reggae bands somehow have a 'whisper of Radiohead' or Thom Yorke vocal stylings in 'em. Though Coldplay and Chris Martin are sneaking in and giving RH a run for its money…. ;)

I thought the show was amazingly up and down. I thought I was going to love the Stars, but I liked some songs, hated others. I was struck by the thought that this band should be on a John Hughes' movie soundtrack. You know, a la Spandau Ballet level, not the Smiths or Furs level…. The lead singer was driving me nuts; I did not dig his demeanor.

BSS was better as a live show, but still had real lows and highs. I really liked three songs, could completely do without about three, and the rest were fine. I preferred the Stars female singer during her stint with BSS, she was better utilized and sounded better. But come on; they had four guitars. Did anyone notice a fuller, more complex sound? Nah.

Fun to meet nkotb, loud talker (but a cutie and a nice guy, so who cares but markie…), and sparx and skeeter too! One of these days before a weekend show we should grab drinks beforehand…

Must have been a pukey night. We came out of the club to find a chick sitting on the back bumper of my car vomiting on the car behind it (I had total rock star parking RIGHT in front of the club…). Thank god mine was not the car behind!

I wonder if that was the girl I saw get carried out of the club before BSS came on. She looked totally unconscious when she was getting carried out.

I don't think it could have been. If she was that bad an hour and a half earlier, hard to imagine she'd still be there puking. Also, this girl was blowing chunks, but wasn't completely out of it…

I can say that this was one show where I felt very, very old.

I think maybe I should stick to the alt-country and Pernice Brothers.

Oh please, the crowd was not that young. I was actually rather impressed by the energy in the room; including the girl dancing like she was on acid next to us. Lulu was upset that she was clearly on something, as opposed to being sober and expressing her artistic side.

I for one, was very impressed with BSS. Clearly these are some talented folks. Perhaps 4 guitars was a little too much, but they were all so full of energy, and obviously quite happy to be there. I thought Stars were good too, and I was completely unaffected by the lead singer's whine. Oh well, to each his own… much happier to listen to BSS now that I've seen them live.

Did anyone notice how the ticket situation was outside? The was a guy in the Red Room trying to give a ticket away and finding no takers.

Some guy offered me $40 for a ticket as I walked in around 9pm. There was a small gaggle (10 or so) of folks trying to buy tickets.
