But someone mentioned the Replacements and Big Star (isn't one of the big guys there gone?) and Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers (the keyboardist is dead right?).

Some listed did reunite on occasion, Gang of 4 did some (HFestival one year and then the 9:30 the next), Jesus and Mary Chain are they broken up, Screaming Blue Messiahs did something in the early 90s, 9353 did some shows when they rereleased their albums on Adult Swim (and they were brilliant).

Personally:

PiL (Almost saw them but curfew struck it down)
Happy Mondays (Have Pills playing right now)
The Sugar Cubes (Einer where are you?)
Slowdive (Monster Movie and Mojave 3 are not enough)
Massive Attack (the 3 have to get back together)
Kyuss (F QOTSA)
The original Mercury Rev
MBV (well later version with Belinda)
The Dust Devils (another almost saw)
Polvo (what brilliant guitar work)
The Stone Roses
The Butthole Surfers (with 2 drummers and Jeff on bass)

True regarding Big Star, at least of the orginial members can passed away. But Alex Clinton and Jody Stephens (drums) have done success shows with two members of the Posies (ken and jon) backing them. I'd love to see that show sometime.

One of the early Modern Lovers keyboardists was Jerry Harrison and he is still very much alive.

Two additions… Pete Townsend solo circa "Empty Glass", backed by bass player and drummer who would later join Big Country. And Billy Bragg circa 1984.

PIL,original lineup of course. The 1st few albums were fantastic.
I third this one, i didnt start listening to them til it was too late, also i wouldnt mind The Sugarcubes, i dont know if i'll get bashed for that one.
i missed seeing the sugarcubes as well…
I saw the Sugarcubes twice. Once they played Georgetown University (Life's too Good) era. Einer was a wildman running around the whole place, Bjork was very passive just singing. This show ruled as their first album had all the classics. MTV has a live concert of them they used to show, it was great.

Second time Merriweather, not as good.
Devo!

But, I specifically noted that I'd be fine with a Replacements reunion without Bob Stinson – Slim Dunlop will do just fine. And I don't know about Big Star, so that may be my bad.

Wasn't he playing completely solo then? Is it possible to reunite with yourself? ;)

Bragg reunites with himself every night, the big wanker!

Actually, he had Wiggy who would flip the wires about on stage and keep walking back on stage to move Braggs guitar a couple of inches before the show started…not sure why, but there you have it.
The best reunion of the year is going to be onstage at the 9:30 in about 7.5 hours…christ that's a long time…
Sexual Chocolate. Their version of "The Greatest Love of All" is truly heart wrenching.
The Stone Roses or the Happy Mondays.
New Kids on the Block.

I'd pay a Pay-Per-View charge of up to $19.99 to see this on Vh1's "Bands Reuniting" - it would be classic to see Mark Wahlberg back on stage with the other 5 saying, "See, I told you that you're type casting yourselves" and then laugh and walk off.
