Albums in 2007

New EP from Bright Eyes, entitled Four Winds, due March 6.

New album from Bright Eyes in April.

New album from Maria Taylor, entitled Lynn Teeter Flower, due March 6.

New album from The Cure in May.

Needless to say, I'll be waiting for the new Bright Eyes releases with bated breath, as well as the new Maria Taylor. Good to know about the new Idlewild, too.
This is kind of old news but just noticed it hasn't been listed in here yet.

New York City's Interpol are in the midst of recording their eagerly anticipated third album.

The Joy Division-influenced indie rock quartet recorded their first two Matador albums (2002's Turn On The Bright Lights and 2004's Antics) with Peter Katis at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, but have elected to stay closer to home for the still untitled new disc. "The studio is in NYC, and we're enjoying being local," the band posted on their website.

"The atmosphere and the environs of a recording facility affect the sound and feel of an album in the subtlest ways. And we are affected. And it is subtle. Sounds great so far. But we'll be here for a while yet. Upward and outward. Begin, begin. Big kisses all around."

The band's deal with Matador has ended, so they've decided to release the new disc through Capitol sometime next year.

Interpol briefly considered using the names Las Armas and The French Letters before settling on their current moniker. They've released several EPs and singles in addition to their two LPs.

LCD Soundsystem in March 2007.
America has a new album coming out, produced by James Iha and James Schlessinger, and featuring Ben Kweller, Ryan Adams, Jim James & Patrick Hallahan, and Matthew Caws & Ira Elliot. It has covers of Nada Surf, Morningwood, and My Morning Jacket.

Could be fucking mind blowing!
Oh yeah, and here is wikipedia's 2007 albums page.

I've looked at that page before and decided I don't like it because the albums are listed by title instead of by band. I don't really feel like clicking on every single one to find out what band it is.

That new America album sounds pretty interesting.
until you listen to the 30 second clips on amazon…

I haven't bothered to listen yet but it sounds to me like a bunch of very boring old has beens trying to make if off of the creativity of the young and new. Guess it's not fair to judge without giving them a fair chance but I'm already pre-disposed to not like them since I couldn't stand them back in the day.
Saw something about a new music tapes album some time in '07 recently. Wasn't too crazy about the first imaginary symphony for nomad but the 2nd imaginary symphony for cloudmaking is a fun listen. I love Julian Coaster's saw playing; he should just put out an album consisting entirely of that and some guitar/synth accompaniment of some sort.
Shirley Manson of Garbage is suppose to release a solo album and Lily Allen/Amy Winehouse will be releasing their albums in the US.
New Amon Tobin album in early '07. Sneak preview on oink. ;)
Translator reissues 2/20/07.
Don't shoot the messenger, but if you pre-order the new CYHSY (out Jan 30) you get immediate MP3 access:

Hello, this is Robert from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It's been a
long time since I've written to everyone… But I think we have
something well worth mentioning. We've just finished work on our 4th
album. We're very proud of it and it took a lot of blood sweat and
cheers to get it to this point.
As far as the mysterious album title goes… Jago thought of calling
the album 'BABY 81' a little while back. It comes from a story during
the Tsunami about a lost child. It was the 81st baby admitted to this
hospital in Kalmunai and nine mothers came forward to claim the child
as their own.

There's so many things to talk about, but I'll try to keep this
short. I know we've kept the direction and sound a bit of a secret on
this album, but it's basically what we do best; three guys playing
rock'n'roll better than any other band can.

It's our first album with Nick behind the drums since 2003 and it's
our life blood poured into this screaming mangled creation. It's
dirty and it's beautiful, but the most important thing is that it's a
part of all three of us again.

The official album release date is May 1st 2007 in the states (and we
should have the UK and Europe release info next week). I know it
might seem like a long time but there will be lots of radio play and
online exclusives.

The good news is that we will be doing widespread touring throughout
2007 and dates will be posted very very soon. There are lots of
things being talked about so I can't go into everything just yet.

"Baby 81" will be released on May 1, 2007 through RCA.

The track listing:

1. Took Out a Loan
2. Berlin
3. Weapon of Choice
4. Window
5. Cold Wind
6. Not What You Wanted
7. 666 Conducer
8. All You Do Is Talk
9. Lien on Your Dreams
10. Need Some Air
11. Killing the Light
12. American X
13. Am I Only

There's a lot more that needs to be said, but there's even more that
needs be done. Besides the fact that I need to get some sleep… I
hope you're all well and I'll see you on the other side.

Take care
Robert
What about Rilo Kiley, aren't they due for a new album this year?
