Albums in 2007

And Bright Eyes.

I also agree with what was said above about the new EITS. Very underwhelming. Still, I'm excited for this upcoming show.
Has anyone actually been bowled over by what they've heard off of The Weirdness?

the new Explosions in the Sky is kinda mediocre…
agreed, i was disappointed … it isn't bad, it just sounds a lot like their last one … "the rescue" was fun just because it showed a different side of them
After thirteen months of writing at their homes in Brooklyn, the National have announced the title and release date of their follow-up to 2005's Alligator.

The album's title is Boxer, and Beggars Banquet will release it on May 22.
i am really, really, really excited for this one and hope there's an iota show in the near future:

Mary Weiss was the lead singer of the great Shangri-Las, who carried Shadow Mortonâ??s teen melodramas to the highest reaches of pop culture. Now, forty years after the last Shangri-Las record, Weiss is about to release a remarkable solo début, â??Dangerous Gameâ? (Norton). Backed by the Memphis garage band Reigning Sound, Weiss is in fine voice, and the songs combine the dark innocence of girl-group records with a mature sense of regret. Several sound like outtakes from a great lost Blondie album, including the taut â??I Just Missed Youâ? and the torchy title track. The highlights are a pair of gorgeous ballads: â??You Can Stay with Meâ? and â??Cry About the Radio,â? the latter a luminous bit of retro pop that celebrates itself by taking a hard swipe at the modern market: â??Kids, kids donâ??t know shit / They just want a hit / I donâ??t write hits.â?

New Maria Taylor on March 6, too.
I liked it all except for that track with Jarvis Cocker. His voice sounded uhh… out of place on it.

I like Air, but do they ever change their sound? Not many people liked 10hz legend, but at least it was different.
has anyone mentioned here the new white stripes album, which will be released "as soon as corporately possible", whatever that means?

eww. icky.
Check out this tinymixtapes piece
on the new Avey Tare/Kria Brekken album which will be released backwards.

(note: if you have a lot of time on your hands and reverse the tracks and slow a few of them down, they actually sound really good.)
Video for new Modest Mouse single "Dashboard"
has anyone heard the new modest mouse album?

i think thats because they are not currently signed to a US record label… V2 music in the US became a catalog only label and drop all of the bands signed to it. Third Man is just Jack's imprint, so they are probably out seeing who will cough up the most in order to release the album
Didn't they sign with Warner Brothers?

I've had it sitting on my HD for over a month now and still have yet to get around to it.

The new Battles album is umm…interesting. The vocals work well on some tracks but get in the way on others. It's also not as minimal as their previous work.
There's a new Queens of the Stone Age teaser floating around the interspace
Reissues in the pipeline (these are bands with a P this time):

Pylon - Gyrate (on DFA!)
Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen (aka Two Wheels Good)
Polyrock - Polyrock and Changing Hearts
New Okkervil River!

Can't wait…
