Albums in 2007

50FtMonster release their debut album called "Life After Debt" supposedly sometime just before March 1st. It's being printed this week.

50FtMonster consists of a couple ex members of Catherine Wheel (Brian Futter & Neil Sims). From the music I've heard over the years from them, they are a bit more rocking and a little less gazey. Nothing at all like Rob's solo work.
I'm liking this Panda Bear disc (not really an animal collective fan at all) and the new Kieren Hebden and Steve Reid album.
God Is An Astronaut will release their 3rd album, "Far From Refuge", scheduled to be released on April 20th.

The Moaners' "slow burning" Blackwing Yalobusha
Dolorean's You Can't Win (which Amazon says "supplies the soundtrack for life in general")
You Am I's Convicts ("poppy punk that vibes the Replacements - Rolling Stone)
Kristin Hersh's Learn To Sing Like A Star ("unsettling in a good way" - Rolling Stone)
Sloan's Never Hear The End Of It ("power pop majesty" - Village Voice)
and the amazing covers on SCOTS' Countrypolitan Favorites, "where rural and urban sensibilities meet."
After months of speculation (and unrestrained hope) that it will be called Lesbian Wednesdays, the Arctic Monkeys reveal their second album will actually be called the very Emo-esque Favourite Worst Nightmare.

The album, the follow-up to Whatever You Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, is due for release on April 23, and the first single Brainstorm will be released the Monday prior.

Here is the track listing for your inspection:

1. Brianstorm (Part superhero, part IT engineer)
2. Teddy Picker (winkle pickers for teddy bears)
3. D is for Dangerous (D is for difficult second album)
4. Balaclava (Topical)
5. Fluorescent Adolescent (Arctic Monkeys in nu-rave shocker?)
6. Only Ones Who Know (Whether this album is really any good)
7. Do Me a Favour (And buy it anyway!)
8. This House Is a Circus (so form an orderly queue for the trapeze)
9. If You Were There, Beware (Rhyming is vital when coming up with a title)
10. The Bad Thing (About this album is that there are no Lesbian Wednesdays to be found anywhere on it)
11. Old Yellow Bricks (are not advisable for the building of new walls)
12. 505 (Arctic Monkeys, Peugeot lovers)
Dead Heart Bloom has a new album out called Chelsea Diaries. Available now via their website. Quite good yet not at all Phaserish. Much more Rhett, Grotty and Brennser friendly. A bit Alt-Country but not fully. Definitely laid back and I would assume very autobiographical. Kind of Leonard Cohenish at times. Fairly clean production with Boris' trademark artistic sensitivety.
So I just saw Sam Beam of Iron and Wine last night at Messiah College, and he mentioned that they've just finished a new album. He also played a ton of new songs from it, at least half the album I'd say, and they all sounded wonderful. He said it's called Shepherd's Dog, and that it won't be coming out until sometime in the fall.
Re: Arctic Monkeys

When is this due out in the states?
There's a ton of interesting stuff on here that hasn't been mentioned, and titles and dates for some that have been previously mentioned without them.

the new Explosions in the Sky is kinda mediocre…
yeah i agree. the new EITS cd has its on and off moments. i saw them play @ the Warsaw a few days ago and while they were a bit rusty in the beginning, overall it was an amazing show.
