Coachella '07 - post confirmed acts here

placebo and sparklehorse, pretty nice.

about 20 or so bands i'd like to see, many bands i havent really heard.

not the best, but certainly not the worst lineup they've had!
I know it's just one band, but is anyone else shocked that the Shins aren't on there? I would have bet money that this would have been the year for them to be there.
i havent counted, but this seems like not enough bands for 3 days. i would imagine their official announcement may have more, and then even more will be added.

but yeah, the shins are like one of the LAST bands i dont think have ever played chella.
Not enough? Paul's stated goal was to decrease conflicts and make everything smoother over a 3 day period, in that sense this seems like plenty and I personally hope they stand pat. My quota of making tough choices and running around with my head cut off is fulfilled at CMJ, Airwaves, and SXSW to once be able to enjoy everything would be nice.
well, since i dont plan on going this year, i wasnt all up on "Pauls stated goal" but based on past Coachella's, theres more bands to be added.

if he's booking less bands per day, than this may be 90%. (theres ALWAYS a few more)

personally, i liked Coachella for its conflicts. sometimes you'd get a close spot for a great band just because they were playing opposite a band you didnt care for or had already seen.

and even if i did have to miss a band i wanted to see, it was only because a better band was playing!!!
There's a pretty big one missing from that list. The Jesus and Mary Chain
tiesto / paul van dyke?

i'm not a big dance music fan, but aren't these guys generally sneered at?
Here's the poster:

Jesus and Mary Chain?!!!! WTF?!
nice to see against me! on the list
The last time I saw the JAMC in concert they were horrible. Here's hoping that they won't suck at Coachella. And same thing for the Happy Mondays.

Too bad they didn't get Ned's Atomic Dustbin or Inspiral Carpets to play. I think I would have flown out for those!
I wouldn't be surprised if J&MC show up, play for 15 minutes and leave.
yeah, i saw JAMC in 1996 and they were POO POO

but who knows,

actually JAMC turns this into at least the second best lineup Coachella ever had.

if they got Mudhoney, it would be Number 1.
I dig the line up, but for some reason there isn't one act I really want to see (okay, maybe the Happy Mondays). Anyway, I'm waiting to see the official Bonnaroo line up before I make any decisions.
The Happy Mondays were the worst of Manchester. They have a few good songs, but the best stuff they released was the Hallelujah EP, and it was all remixes. Now the Stone Roses on the other hand…oh man.

From the Manchester baggy era, I think my faves are the Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans UK (OK, they're from Norwich), and Northside. Inspiral Carpets put on the most psychedelic show I've ever seen…strobes, slide projections, just the most insane visuals that you can't even imagine. I know, sounds very Pink Floyd, but they were far more 60's garage than anything else. Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine put on one hell of a light show too. Those were some fun concerts.
"tiesto / paul van dyke?

They're fucking terrible. Anthemic jock-trance.
so why are they at an indie-festival?
Your guess is as good as mine. I'm sure there will be something else going on at the same time though. Infected Mushroom are along the same lines too. They're like lame trance with a psychedelic twist.
tiesto and PVD are mega-stars of the dance scene. that they would headline the dance tent portion of such a large festival isn't that surprising.

i found it very interesting that infected mushroom are scheduled to appear (they are notorious for "missing their plane" because of "health reason"). once upon a time they were highly respected in the psytrance scene, now they're derided because of their cross-over success and/or change of style. no matter how much one might consider Coachella to be an "indie-festival", to some it is a sign of selling out.
I was kinda hoping to see some minimal/techhouse I.E. Booka Shade, DJ T, Akufen, Isolee, M.A.N.D.Y., etc. instead of the usual trance suspects in the dance tent.
