after sunday night, it doesn't matter how shitty the sound is in any venue, mbv's equipment will destroy any damn room. i've never heard noise sound so beautiful
jesus christ, one of the best shows ever. i might want to go on tuesday and see them again if i have a chance.
MBV Roll Call
Who needs tickets to MBV at the Aragon? My sister's boyfriend has 2 that he's trying to get rid of (preferably as a pair). Samantha, would that work for you? Private me your e-mail and I'll get the message to him. Thanks.

Oh the stories I can tell you…actually he's got some medical reason why he can't go. Nothing serious, just weird. Like him.
Yeah, like showing up with the other lady would result in getting his ass kicked! Not too healthy.
Bearman, you always have good stories. Always!

I'm not telling you everything either. Looks like nobody needs tix from the dumbass since I haven't heard from anyone, so I'll go ahead and share.
He got pulled over last night in front of the house for speeding (going 40 in a 30 zone), but he unbuckled the seatbelt just as the cop walked up. So he got nailed for not having a seatbelt too, AND he got his license taken away. When we saw Queens of the Stone Age last October he lost his credit card AND his car. Yes, he was so fucked up he pulled a "Dude, where's my car?". And he's 40.

bearman I definitely want one of those tickets if we can work it out! pm me your phone…and I MAYBE MIGHT POSSIBLY want the second ticket, have another friend who may come into town but doesn't know yet…
Just got back from last night.
Incredible show as expected. Sound quality was my biggest worry going into it but it was perfect from where I was (mezzanine). YMMR was one of the most, if not the most intense live music experiences I ever had. Chest-rattlingly awesome. :) And it went by really quick; definitely felt a lot shorter than it actually was. So yeah, the whole losing track of time thing is true.
I think they did cut a couple songs from the usual set they've been playing, though. Blown a Wish and Sueisfine. Wonder why that was. Also, I would've rather heard Lose My Breath instead of Cigarette in Your Bed but that's just being picky. :)
Oh and one reason why one would rather see them now as opposed to in the early 90's is that the ability for them to reproduce live what they did in studio is available to them now. Go back and listen to any older recordings; they all don't come close. The recordings I've heard and the show I saw last night matched everything on the albums note for note and with perfect clarity.

For Jaguar as requested:

Edit: just read that YMMR was 18 minutes. Definitely the quickest 18 minutes ever.

Was there on Monday night and it was an incredible show. Set list pretty similar to that pictured on Brooklyn Vegan.
Here's Mondays:
I Only Said
When You Sleep
You Never Should
When You Wake
Cigarette in Your Bed
Come In Alone
Only Shallow
Thorn
Nothing More to Lose
To Here Knows When
Blown a Wish
Slow
Soon
Feed Me With Your Kiss
Sueisfine
YMMR
From what I remember, the didn't do Sueisfine, but that was the only omission.
Foam earplugs did the job, with finger assistance during the holocaust section. Allowed myself the etymotics during To Here Knows When. The holocaust section was seriously like standing in front of a jet engine. Enjoyed it immensely more than I thought I would.
I was right underneath the projector and they kept on having problems with it. It would take them a minute to get it back up. The main light guy was amped right before and during MBV's set. May me wonder if he had a little bump beforehand, cracked me up.
Excellent show and worth the MYC trip. Plus, I got a new pair of Fluevogs while I was up there, so all is good.

Are they doing "Honey Power" any more? I love that song. I'm a little bummed not to hear "Soft As Snow (But Warm Inside)" and "Several Girls Galore", but hey, I'm just happy to see them at all.
Soft as Snow would have been a treat.
Ummmm…so I guess there's hardly any merch left because people bought up everything at the other shows. WTF? They better print up some shit and have it shipped to them by the time they get to the Aragon. They could make a FORTUNE from shirts alone!
