MBV Roll Call

I'm listening to the Chicago show now.

It's the best one I've heard sound quality-wise thus far.
Vocals are low in the mix but that goes without saying. Everything else, however sounds perfect. Roseland (especially tuesday) sadly didn't come out nearly as good on tape.
So Monday from Roseland is poor as well? That's too bad. Was hoping to get a copy of it.
It's ok.

Tuesday is too muddy, though.

I'll try to upload monday today.

This is exactly why we call it Bliss. Such a wonderful experience. I've always said that being in the presence of the Bliss is like a sonic massage. A live Airiel show will do that to you albeit not to the level of a MBV massaging.

Betty, consider yourself annointed. ;)

Got my tickets for Richmond and am absurdly excited already.  Everything I've read suggests that earplugs will be more or less mandatory and that it's worth dropping $10-12 on a set of Etys instead of just spending $1 on some crappy foam ones at CVS.  Accurate?
You could also use the ones they provide for free.
I prefer my ER's, though.

not to mention the ones they provide aren't too shabby and don't completely drown out everything.

though if you go to a lot of shows, get a pair of ety's and keep it on you anyways. you wont regret it.
believe it or not, i actually didn't wear earplugs during both roseland shows…and i didn't experience any worse ear-ringing than i do when i play drums with a full band.  i didn't want to experience MBV with anything blocking the pure sound, so i decided to watch from the middle, towards the back.  i didn't feel it was necessary to be so close (and it's much easier to get a beer when you don't have to wade through a crowd).  it was loud as fuck, to be sure, and if it were any louder i would have needed earplugs, but i think i was in the perfect position to listen.  so…if you want to be close, definitely wear earplugs, but if you stand towards the back, you could probably get away with not wearing them.

i wish this show was on 7/31 because i would see them again.  i have polvo and obits at johnny brenda's on 7/30, and seeing polvo again is just as high a priority for me as MBV…and much more financially feasible!
mr. pretentious and i will be there.
