i enjoyed the obits show more than the forgettable polvo show at the black cat…
MBV Roll Call
Polvo were great at the black cat! Still yet to hear the new stuff.
your kidding right? nope.
obits is the worst project by rick true. i wouldn't pass up MBV for obits.
and the new polvo is embarrassing i respectfully disagree.
your passing up mbv for that yes.
keep in mind, polvo is one of my favorite bands, and i have them playing what is essentially my house. they're not just at any venue. and i thought they kicked major ass at the black cat last year.
different strokes for different folks, i guess. you'd shoot a wad in kurt vile's overrated face while i'd save mine for faust in september. kurt's alright, but i don't see the big deal myself.

thats cool, its also good to know the nu polvo sounds like nu metal math rock with a hint of the atari's cover of boys of summer

i'll be jerkin off to that "overrated" kurt vile with his neil young and jack rose rip offs while linkin park and polvo do a tour together
enjoy

oh and mentioning faust and kurt vile in the same sentence much less how good they are compared to eachother is retarded and you even know that.
also does anyone know how many people this place holds

Got my tickets for Richmond and am absurdly excited already. Everything I've read suggests that earplugs will be more or less mandatory and that it's worth dropping $10-12 on a set of Etys instead of just spending $1 on some crappy foam ones at CVS. Accurate?
Yes.

The National DOES have an early entry deal with the eatery at the corner. Check their web site for details. The food is pretty decent.
Is that a VA thing? The Norva has a similar deal.
Good to know, though. Thanks.

I don't really think MBV is one of those shows that would be made better by being right up front. Middle of the floor where the sound would be optimal would be better.
I was thinking upstairs.
Isn't the sound best up there?
Was on the floor for The National and the sound was all boomy.

Up front is obviously the worst, but no noticable difference between the back of the floor, the mezzanine, and the balcony the last 5 shows I've been to there.

It has been a good year or longer since I've been there.
I will make a last minute decision on this show.. I'd really rather not go to Richmond not only cause of the drive but because I like to avoid that town and perhaps they will add a show in DC or something… Given Richmond has about 40 people with good musical taste I doubt this will sell out (note: I'm not trying to be "snarky"…just the way I see it..).

I was on the rail for Mogwai last year and thought the sound was fine. But i'm not a sound freak or anything.
I've since heard it and the production almost ruins it for me. It sounds like Bob Rock was in the studio with them. Gross…

For what it's worth to any slackers out there…Ticketmaster is sold out and ticketstobuy.com has less than 20 remaining.
very cool to know. i'm glad it sold out now and not immediately.
