Lily Allen's coming...now all we need is Amy!!!

Lily is coming to see DC in February. Now that this is done we need Amy Winehouse to come!!!!
Am I the only one who has no idea who these people are?
No. And, considering who's shilling them, you probably don't need to.
lily allen?
Both Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse are getting occasional airplay on WOXY.com, and I really like Winehouse's "Rehab"…it just sounds like a song that's been around forever yet seems new and fresh. As for Lily…I don't get what the big deal is.
no idea. but i hear that the kids love them.
Haven't heard of Lily Allen? What, have you been living under a rock?
If by "under a rock" you mean "not watching MTV," then yes.
I don't watch MTV, but KEXP was playing the hell out of her maybe six months ago or so.

Does MTV really play any videos? I've never seen a video when flipping through MTV in the past 18 months that I've had cable.
I'd assume they would, considering they are sponsoring her tour.
MTV promotes a lifestyle, not music. I can't help but project this idea onto Lily Allen. I haven't heard her entire album, but the cuts i did hear seemed more like lifesytle music.
"Lifestyle" is the term Borders is now using for new age.
I think you have to make your own choice. MTV promotes but people decide. Just because MTV is supporting it doesn't matter. I knew about her long before MTV came into the picture. That is why God gave us brains and didn't make us zombies.
The words of a 21 year old rich British party girl don't really speak to me, but the music is catchy.
Freedom of choice

Freedom from choice

Bull930, You seem like a nice enough anglophile, is it not within your means to venture up the coast a few hours where you can have your overfill of all your favorites, can even catch TRL Live if I'm not mistaken that a) it still exits and b) it's still in NYC?

I saw Lily's lack luster showcase in NYC last year, as well as Amy's stellar performance at Joes Pub a little over a week ago. Sometimes you have to go to the mountain.

And I'm not sure if it was your intention but the way you've been beating this drum for months you come off sounding like a street teamer for both acts…not a crime if you are, but probably wasting your time on these boards.

And for the record I'll repeat you'll never see Amy Winehouse/Lily Allen grace the same stage outside of a festival, conference, or your turn table. Amy is a established, exceptionally talented artist, while Lily is a few months removed from decrypting her diary for her demos.

And though she'll probably outsell Amy by a mile, there's no correlation between her popularity and her talent level which is improving but far from professional. She's interesting but why the hell she's headlining the 930 is beyond me, besides of course SHE CAN because MTV said so. Amy should be playing the 930 on the 16th, where as there is perfectly good back room at the Black Cat for up and coming artists like Ms. Allen.

Street team this board, go to jail, it's the law!
bnyced0 - even if he did venture up to NYC - all those anglophile shows you are mentioning keep selling out. but have no fears - the fratellis added a second date to the mercury lounge. and maybe theres still lily allen tix available for the webster hall show. but bloc party is sold out.

The Pipettes
this is meant as a serious question: bull930, can you/would you be allowed to get on a bus/train/plane to NYC for a concert?
I like my Brits in large doses, and there's always a nice complement at Noorderslag in January, NME Award Tours in February, SXSW in March, and the last gasp before the summer festivals…Indio in April. All of which will have/had an appearance by Amy W. with a bevy of others including the Pipettes who are also stellar.

What I want in the States are their albums at a reasonable time instead of having to drop 8 quid for the import when they're released, but I guess that still beats waiting 10 months for them to be in the $7.99 bin at best buy.
