Oh sweet, sassy Moses smell the roses. I cannot believe you're dredging this up yet again. The situations are completely different.
why is this different. you outright called me a bitch without knowing me. AND NOT A SINGLE MOD DID SHIT! miss p was the only one who said something. i didnt think it was cool - but this is getting out of control. either ban them all, or dont ban anyone. i guess im not 'popular' enough to warrant more being done.

ok i vaguely remember this incident and apologize if i didn't react…. should something like this happen i suggest that you contact myself directly as that has worked for others in the past…

to some extent this board is self moderating, it's just that it's reaching the point that real feelings are going to be hurt and it's time to tone down the language.

It's different, in large part, because of intent. In a politics thread where two people are arguing back and forth and someone calls someone a name, we'll go with 'cheeky bastard,' it is obvious from the totality of the circumstances that the intent was to insult or demean the other person. When I dropped the bitch line, someone else had called you out for posting out of town shows and I quoted a television program. Looking at the totality of the circumstances, it's obvious that my intention was not to insult or demean you since (a) I was not the one arguing with you, (b) I did not agree with the person arguing with you as evidenced by the fact that 80% of the shows I post about are out-of-town shows, © I said I had no idea you were a woman, and (d) when it was brought to my attention that you were a woman and I had insulted you, I immediately apologized.

There's a difference between doing something with malicious intent and misguidedly trying to bring levity to an already ridiculous argument.

Additionally, I would argue certain words are generally agreed to be more offensive then others. C U Next Tuesday offends even the filthiest mouthed sailor; dumbass or bitch are rather benign by comparison. It's like they're in different tiers of curseword offensiveness.
dylan should write, "those posting out of town shows blues."

can we bash those "community organizers" that break the law?
You mean like the ones I wrote about today? Sure, I'm in favor.
About your posting, Kurtz relied on an article from Social Policy that runs counter to Obama's story on his role with ACORN and Project Vote. The Social Policy web site has blocked access to that article, but it is available here. I think it's very illuminating and it's understandable why Social Policy would block access to the article.
Well two things, and I'll give the thread back. Venerable, can continue on the comment thread on the blog if you'd like.

First, it seems to me that if Obama had run seminars for ACORN for 11 years, there would be more than one article or one source that could document that fact. Not to split hairs, but the article also notes that they "invited" Obama each of those years. It doesn't say that he actually led the seminars in those years, though it wants the reader to infer that.

Regardless, it is an interesting read, despite the fact that it still doesn't prove any kind of sinister association. It remains true that ACORN is a legitimate, relevant group that is active in major cities around the country. Even if Obama has worked with them in the past, it doesn't really change anything now - leading a seminar in Chicago is not really relevant to what the ACORN issue is today.

I could stomach Moet & Chandon if need be.

In a show of solidarity with this brave girl I am changing my name to Yourwords Hurtme. It's on my driver's license and everything.

Think I'm in danger of being banned because I honestly think "Pop" is U2's greatest album?

well i don't acknowledge the existence of any full length U2 album released after "War", they did release some nice singles post "War"… and kosmette is rather fond of "Pop"…

i don't like people who say the bends is radiohead's best. it almost seems like their brain to mouth response is trying too hard.

This.

The Bends is very good, but to argue it's better then OKC or KidA is simply trying to be different for different's sake.
what does "this" have to do with anything?
