plant was invited to participate in ozzy's back to the beginning retirement party.  made sense, given how the two bands dominated the 70's heavy rock scene, were both friends and rivals, etc.  but he turned it down because that is a part of his life that no longer exists.  plants gives zero looks in the rearview mirror, along with zero fucks.  the biggest concert of a generation and he's like "thanks, but i'm good over here, need to work on my new folk tune."  badass.

my take is plant isn't as embarrassing as other boomer icons (same for gilmour, to a slightly lesser extent)  because he doesn't rest on his past laurels and refuses to be a nostalgia act.  he is pressing forward with new material, even if he could have way more fame and fortune by rehashing 50 years old hits night after night.  not too make others doing that.  dylan comes to mind.
