My dog Theo becomes a teenager tomorrow.

Reminds me of the time we were visiting my in-laws one August when my kid was little. She was all excited and insisted on throwing our dog a birthday party.

Unfortunately, the timing overlapped with my alcoholic brother in law's 40th birthday. He was going through some tough times at that point, and folks other than my daughter, who was too young to understand the situation, weren't really in a dog birthday party mood. But the party happened anyway.

^ i have met Theo i can assure everyone he is, indeed, a good boy.  now that he's a teenager he probably resents me saying that.

also: that sudden depressing turn at the end of the story = classic Space
