DEVO - Lets hear some chatter folks

KC lives in the Triangle Area in NC. He got his hair cut at the same salon as me. Used to have his limo driver drive him right up to the strip mall where the salon was. The same guy also cut Joan Collins' hair. She would fly him in whenever she needed a touch-up. Now aren't you glad I shared that story?

You should go there tonight for the KC and The Sunshine Band show. :)
I did some video work on a New Year's Eve show at Disney in Florida one year with KC and Paul Shaffer……..that was the first and last experience up close with those two I will ever need for the rest of my life……
Everyone should own "Are We Not Men…". If you only get one, it MUST be this one.
I'll be at the sunday show, hoping they play 'girl u want' and 'turnaround'.
Well, for now I split the difference between popular and early/edgy – I got Devo's Greatest Hits (I HAD to have "Through Being Cool") and 'Duty Now For The Future.'

Chutney, Are We Not Men will be on my list…

Greatest Hits:

1. Here To Go (Go Mix Version)

2. Through Being Cool

3. Big Mess

4. That's Good

5. Jerkin' Back 'N' Forth

6. Peek-A-Boo!

7. Beautiful World

8. (I Can't Get No) Satis…

9. Whip It

10. Girl U Want

11. Freedom Of Choice

12. Smart Patrol / Mr. DNA

13. Gut Feeling

14. Gates Of Steel

15. Working In The Coalmine

16. Jocko Homo

can't shell out $55 for this show, but this is one of my favorite all-time new wave tracks … it feels like the musical equivalent of post-modern theory

I preferred Devo's greatest misses over hits. Misses has tracks like Blockhead,Mongoloid,Swelling itching Brain,Satisfaction, etc. You can't go wrong with any of the 1st 3 studio albums. My personal fave is Duty Now For the Future.

I'm sure if there was a poll on just about any site, the Stones would win handily. Maybe not this one, but most.

i'm sure if there was a poll on "better band" on just about any site, linkin park would get more votes than devo … who gives a fuck

it's just a fantastic song … otis did it best and completely re-interpreted the song (like how johnny cash just makes any song he covers his own), the whole sense of adolescent frustration is channeled into the experience of being black in america in the late 60s and it's just infinitely more powerful and meaningful than the stones … devo's is really cool in it's own way, but it's just not on the same level as the first two versions
But what I really want to know is…Which is better, Devo's Satisfaction or Flying Lizards Money?
So Eddie must be on vacation!

Any idea on Sunday's set times? I'm headed out of town tomorrow and have to be sure to get back in time.

Thx!
Can't wait for Saturday night! A chance to relive my early 20's all over again.

I found a setlist from an Atlanta (12 June) show on a Devo fansite and it looks like a good selection (mostly from the first three releases). I would also add Come Back Jonee and The Day My Baby Gave Me a Surprise and would be a totally satisfied spud.

It would have been even more impressive if they had created the song themselves. Then I'd say, yeah, the Devo version is much better. Anyways, it will be a fun concert Sunday night.
Considering that this could very well be the last time we're going to get to see DEVO live, $55 is fine by me. I would have paid more – hundreds, if Alan were drumming. Whatever the case, it's a corporate feudal state, and we're just spuds for the harvest.

My buddy's flying in from Pittsburgh and we're going to both shows, recreating a similar odyessy we took in '88 to see them in Cincinnati and Columbus.

Club DEVO reports that they'll being playing seldom-heard tunes on the August dates. Though this could mean anything from "Come Back Johnee" to "DEVO Has Feelings Too," I dare not speculate. "I Need a Chick"? "Dr. Detroit"? "Cold War"? "DEVO Has Feelings Too"? "Man Turned Inside Out"? "Here to Go"?

Who knows? So let's find out!

If anybody wants to meet pre-gig for drinks and de-evolution, let's get it rollin'. …

Bombs away!

Now you're talking. My buddy is flying in from Seattle tonight for the show on Sunday. Wish there was a cheap way in on Saturday, oh well. Can't wait!!! CU there.
T
YEAH, Eddie's the bomb!!

For Sunday:

No opening act but Eddie Eyeball may come down and DJ prior to the band.

7:30 Doors
9:30 Devo
My brother is driving down from NYC. We're looking forward to seeing the Spud Boys on Saturday evening !
Why might it be the last time we see them live? Is someone in the band dying?
