Bands that SHOULD reunite? Maybe?

One blog has compiled a list of 25…here.

But I'll save you some trouble…

25. Soundgarden
24. The Misfits
23. STP
22. Sly & The Family Stone
21. Fugazi
20 Eric B & Rakim
19. Echo & The Bunnymen
18. Smashing Pumpkins (original)
17.Black Flag
16. Devo
15. Grateful Dead
14. John Mayall's Bluesbreakers
13. The Sugarcubes
12. My Bloody Valentine
11. Husker Du
10. Phish
9. Uncle Tupelo
8. The Cocteau Twins
7. Neutral Milk Hotel
6. The Replacements
5. Led Zeppelin
4. Pavement
3. The Smiths
2. Talking Heads
1. Pink Floyd

There aren't many on this list I would care to see reunite to be quite honest…
I've never really understood why the Dead haven't started playing together again. They all play in their own bands that all cover Grateful Dead songs.
The Refused

the rest can stay where they are….
from that list, pink floyd and MBV

personally i'd love to see HUM re-unite.
and Godspeed You Black Emperor
There's only four on that list that I'd pay to see. Probably none of them at the prices that would be charged!

The Replacements
Uncle Tupelo
Talking Heads
The Smiths

The remaining members toured a few years ago as "The Dead" but why they haven't kept that going I have no idea.

oh to see the refused reunite…
When did Echo and the Bunnymen break up again?
the sugarcubes just played a show together last november or something?

as much as i like pink floyd, i'm not sure how interesting a reunion show (at least of the 68-81 lineup) would be, especially considering the ticket prices that would be charge. however if they didn't play any post-81 floyd or any dave/roger solo material, that'd be at least one thing going for it.

i'm not interested in an SP reunion. after seeing shows in asheville and the show in DC, i could care less if i ever see them again and i'm certainly not going to pay for it.

a soundgarden reunion would be cool, but they'd definitely have to pretend that that last album never came out… and maybe superunknown too…

godspeed haven't really… 'broken up'. they're just not doing anything right now. i wouldn't say for sure that htey are done for good, however i do have to say that i'm glad that i caught 7 shows on that last tour.
Faith No More

End Discussion.

i saw floyd in 94 @ RFK, and was kinda upset that half of their set was from 80s/90s material (division bell, momentary lapse of reason, etc.) however, that was the division bell tour. if roger and david could settle their differences, and do a tour only (NOT interested in hearing a new album from them) then it would have the potential to be amazing. you know roger would have nothing to do with the david solo stuff or post-wall floyd, which would leave us with all the classic material. if they did three sets, playing DSoTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, in their entirety, it would be legendary. Although i'd personally replace DSoTM with Meddle. but thats just me.

regarding godspeed, yeah i know they're on "hiatus" and not officially broken up, but they've been MIA for 4 years now, so I'd call them doing a new album or tour a "reunion" of sorts..

well the problem is you're going to get way more of a greatest hits shows rather than a real sampling of the material. the songs would also be played extremely true to the album versions…. which isn't really so cool if you've heard some of dave's guitar solos on the 77 tour. the set would be the same every night as well… so that's less appealing too.

ideally if i had the opportunity to see them at any point, i would go back and see them sometime between 68 and 71.

November 17th in Reykjavik to be exact, and it was a one-off for charity and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the band.

In the most technical sense they did reunite and there doesn't seem to be a rule book on how many shows or albums constitute a genuine getting back together, though the rules should probably say ALL ORIGINAL LIVING MEMBERS at the very least.

I'd really like to see Pavement play
Pavement is ripe for a reunion/tour.

Guns N Roses, original line up should tour

Talking Heads

Pink Floyd - Gilmour and Waters are in 'fighting shape' after recent tours and should tour.

Tribe Called Quest - I know they were at Love recently. Q-Tip has stagnated alone. They should get together in earnest.

R.E.M. w/ Bill Berry

JAMC need to tour for real and get to DC

Jonathan Richman should tour w/ original Modern Lovers.

The last time I saw Pavement they were pelted with mud.

I don't want anyone to "get back together." If a band breaks up, it breaks up. Life goes on.

Would anyone REALLY want to see the Smiths get back together? They were fresh and exciting when the were in their early twenties. They'd be sad and pathetic now. That can apply to ALL of those bands on the list.

What is this affliction that rock fans catch? It's like a Scavenger Hunt. You have a mental list of "bands you missed" and now you'll pay ANYTHING ($100+) to see them again now that they've gotten back together when you KNOW the band is ONLY doing it for the money. It's like a surgically reconstructed hymen.

A band breaking up is like two people getting a divorce. It's an end. You can't recreate a marriage and you can't recreate the Replacements. Move on. Nostalgia will kill you, if you let it.

That was a full-fledged reunion tour w/ about 20-some odd dates. Where were you at, fam???

Don't hold your breath for an album, though.

It was well documented on the slow century DVD if it's the lollapalooza incident you refer to.
That made me sad, I thought they were a brilliant band and that those people throwing mud were knuckleheads. If it happened elsewhere, then there is more Pavement hatred out there than I thought possible
