I've come to the realization Rhett is more of an arrogant obnoxious elitist little prick than GGW….sorry GGW, you're #2 now.
whist all the above is quite possibly true. I do think Rhett has a point…. I certainly wasnt listening to whiskeytown five years ago.

I had heard 'of' Whiskeytown, but not heard their music.

As for Wilco, I had heard them quite a while ago and found them to be really quite shit from the get-go. I also saw them in concert supporting some band that I can't even remember now, and thought it would be a good time to go for a pee and to get a beer while they were on stage.

I am the supreme court on this issue, no recount needed, Rhetts the winner.

I had heard of them but did not listen to them.
I'm only an elitist when it comes to music. I'll bet GGW would take the prize in most other categories.

Hell, my wife is arguably more of an elitist than me on most matters. Good thing she considers my musical elitism a good thing. :)

Obviously not when it comes to choosing a husband.

I've found that many of the people on this board were not musically savvy enough to have heard of Wilco, and especially Whiskeytown, five years ago.

This thread is incredible…

50 worst in Music History?…Wilco and Ryan Adams?

When did becoming media darlings make somebody an awful musician? You have to admit that Ryan Adams and Tweedy and company are incredibly talented. I am sure most people on this board raved about Wilco and Whiskeytown five years ago.
I saw Wilco open for REM almost 5 years ago and guess what …..

they fucking suck and havent gotten much better.
Yes, you are right. I am more of an elitist than her at choosing a husband. NO man would ever be good enough for me to spend my life with, whereas she found ONE man who was good enough for her.

I wouldnt quite say that was not musically savvy, perhaps we were just better at tuning out bad music back then.

I'm guessing she settled for something a lot less than she hoped for.
You come off even more retarded talking about two people you don't even know than when you talk about bands you don't know…

maybe you only heard AM, which I would say is the weakest of all Wilco albums
this messageboard gets a little confusing, since i somehow figured more people knew each other than possibly do.

I said, "I'm guessing"

v. guessed, guess·ing, guess·es
v. tr.

To predict (a result or an event) without sufficient information.
To assume, presume, or assert (a fact) without sufficient information.

Skip the English language part of your college education perhaps?
no…Rhett is way cuter and likely much less difficult than Jeff

This may be true, but first impressions tend to stick don't they?
Isn't that just precious…the boy's trying to be all punk with the torn shirt and all.
Wilco has changed their sound COMPLETELY over the last few years. Whereas intially they sounded like a cross between the Replacements and Gram Parsons, now they are much more experimental in their sound, and arguable a bit darker in their lyrics.

Many people who didn't like their initial sound totally love what they sound like now, and many alt-country fans who initially loved them think they sound like shit now.

So in this case, first impressions really shouldn't be applied to what they sound like now.

No offense but I still don't see you liking what they sound like now.

Ministry is another example of a band that totally changed their sound. Started off as wimpy sythn-poppers, and changed into a hard edged thrashy style band.
