50 Worst Artists in Music History

Wilco has changed their sound COMPLETELY over the last few years. Whereas intially they sounded like a cross between the Replacements and Gram Parsons, now they are much more experimental in their sound, and arguable a bit darker in their lyrics.

Many people who didn't like their initial sound totally love what they sound like now, and many alt-country fans who initially loved them think they sound like shit now.

So in this case, first impressions really shouldn't be applied to what they sound like now.

No offense but I still don't see you liking what they sound like now.

Ministry is another example of a band that totally changed their sound. Started off as wimpy sythn-poppers, and changed into a hard edged thrashy style band.
It is funny how that works though, because I know several people who did not like Being There when I played it in 1997 but ended up buying and enjoying it after YHF came out.

This may be true, but first impressions tend to stick don't they?
yeah, I will never be able to get over my first impression of you as a complete ass

I will take that as a huge compliment going by the choice you made for a husband.
I think punks purposely strategically rip their clothes to look cool. I don't think Tweedy gives a rats ass about what he looks like, which is a good quality for a man to have, in my estimation.

not that I really care that much, but I do feel compelled to respond that I don't think you really know us at all based on some of the comments you've put here (about us being urban hipsters or some such nonsense

in any case, I would guess that you and yours are probably very much different from us…

I still think you're a dim wanker for not being able to appreciate Wilco, especially given some of the shit you DO like
Okay everyone.

If you don't like the music Celeste and Rhett likes, you must be a dim wanker.

How very republican of them.

It seems "freedom of opinion" is not in their consitution.
I'm sorry. I should've been more clear. I'm just distracted because I'm working while I fuck around on this board…I should have said that that is just ONE of the reasons I think you are a dim wanker.

Oh okay, thanks for clearing that up. You aren't quite the stupid cow I thought you were then.

yeah, i always knew that sooner or later, your like or dislike for one band would make or break your personality…i just never knew which band it was….and now i know

thanks so very much.

i guess i should be yankee foxtrotting to work now, maybe I'll put in that new "Alt-Country's Biggest Yawners" compilation we just got in on Tuesday!
I didn't realize Mankie liked anything that was recorded AFTER 1987 by a band that started after 1987. Talk about being elitist. I actually like hundreds of cd's that were recorded after 1987, and hundreds more before.

Oh wait, there is Carbon Leaf and My Name is Kloot…
Here's a coinky-dink
My GF just called me and we were talking and she said "my friend at work said that Wilco sounds like Radiohead" kinda funny since we've been talking about them….and i laughed.

surely Radiohead AND Wilco fans can all be appalled at that statement.

then she said he gave her a demo of his band…do i dare listen to music written buy a guy who thinks YHF is the next OK Computer?

Cows are actually very smart and good creatures.

perhaps it is something about people not liking bands whose members are all young enough to be their children ;)

Fair comment coming from someone who just today made the comment that the 50's were the best era for music.

why not?

anyway…you probably can't say what record shop you work at (did I infer correctly that you work in a record shop)…can you? is it DCCD?

does anyway else here experience the odd phenomenon of shitty music being played in record shops nine out of ten times you're in one?

Cows, smart!!!

Actually, I was referring to the fact they tend to be full of bull!
I can see the comparisons between YHF and Radiohead. Lott of bleeps and processed sounds, not very earthy or organic in sound.

If YHF were the only Wilco album I had ever heard, I can admit that I probably wouldn't like it very much. It's a bit different than the stuff that I really prefer.

But given that I loved their early stuff, I can fathom the evolution of the band, and like the new stuff, even if it's not as much as the older stuff.

I guess that makes me the opposite of the people who came to love the old stuff only after loving the new stuff (as Bob Pollard pointed out).
They're only full of bull once a month, when they're in heat.

I don't think Sonick would be caught dead in DCCD, not enough mainstream selection.

The English are just so angry aren't they http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_808431.html?menu=news.latestheadlines
