Ah, the backlash. I wonder what would happen if I compared The Artists of the OC Soundtracks with the 9:30 Group on Last.Fm….

I would like to point out that Death Cab isn't even in my top fifteen. And really, I hardly think they're extremely overrated, they have released some very solid albums.

My vote is for the ARctic Monkeys.
I'm also adding a vote for the Strokes.

I can't even make it through one of their sound clips.
First thought I had was that Talking Heads did it much better 25 years ago. I'd much rather listen to "Fear of Music" any day.
Strokes, Bloc Party, and Clap Your Hands. Or any of these bands that you can't distinguish from the late-70's-early-80's bands they mimic embarrassingly well. Its just gotten old.
I contribute so little to the 9:30 last.fm charts… guess that makes me out of step :)
That must make our Callat703 an avid teenage girl, too :)

1) What makes you say that Death Cab is overrated? I think for many years, they were actually quite underrated.

2) How does opening for Kelly Clarkson make you overrated? Or, I'll state this differently. How does being stuck on a tour by your overbearing label convert to critical acclaim?

And Bright Eyes is my overrated pick. Hands down. The guy can write a good song and yeah he was/is young, but he's not Jesus. Bob Dylan was young too…
Sufjan Stevens by a mile, if you're measuring "overrated" by critical acclaim.

If you're measuring by popular acclaim, Keane, Snow Patrol.

you all are a bunch of whiny vaginas … and i'll stand up for CYHSY: it's a really good album, they just flew too high too soon
Why do you need new bands? Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact.
