Best show you've ever seen at the 9:30 club

Are you the Skeeter from Scream? [/QB]

Nope.
The Minutemen, May 1985. Out of a lot of inspiring bands playing the 930 that year (Husker Du, Replacements, et al.), they were the most powerful.

Fantastic show…but my favorites would have to be The White Stripes in April '02
and as a triple bill, Q and Not U, Interpol and Clinic last year.

But my #1 DC club show is probably Out Hud at the Black Cat this past July.
Holy bajeezus that was a fun time. And Needs New Body were excellent as well. Beans got a little old after about the 5th tune, but still, good times.

Definitely Sigur Ros second show this year. I was also pleasantly surprised with Polyphonic Spree this year and Cornelius last year. I guess I had come in thinking that I would not be impressed but was blown away.
So Cornelius translated well live? I love his two albums, no idea what the live show would be like, just him? I really know nothing about the guy. I was planning on going but had already picked up tickets for Bela Fleck at Wolf Trap with my hippie friend, which was a great show but I've seen them a bunch before, was bummed about Cornelius.
The most entertaining show I've seen recently at the 930 was the Flaming Lips last spring.

One of the best shows I've ever seen at the 930 would have to be a toss up between Watt/Sonic Youth or Nick Cave on his Greatest Hits tour.

well said. I'd almost forgot about how stellar Needs New Body were.

And to Skeeter, who saw the Meat Puppets at the old club…shit, you're a lucky man.
I'd like to add Morphine to the list. Great band. A few months later he dropped dead onstage in Italy.
Bryan Ferry - 2001 How he got that 13 piece band on that stage and the women on strings were all HOT.

I actually went to see South who was opening and had never heard Cornelius before. I was amazed at the precision of the show. The stage effects (lighting/video) was the most amazing I had ever seen. I went out and bought Point the next day and have loved it ever since.
South and Cornelius…….

I thought cornelius were good live, my missus thought they were GGGRRRRRRREAT. I got one of there albums and it was a bit too wanky for me. (white cover big blue splodge).

Cornelius really excelled with their projection and light show though. There were about 6 people in the band as well, right?
O.A.R. with Junior Marvin sitting in last November.

fishbone - a day show on a hot summer day. mmmmm… i can still smell it. the whole club was literally dripping with sweat. the floors were wet all the way down the front hallway. that show had to add something to the unique smell of the club.

fleshtones '87ish - pete zaremba took me downstairs to the backstage. i was young and thought it was just to talk. when he put his arm around me on the couch I started to figure it out…when he went to grab us drinks, I ran like hell!
