worst thread ever?
post of the month
there is a difference between "worst band ever" and "band I hate most ever." The former implies a certain amount of objectivity, whereas the latter is entirely subjective.

which is why i YAWN ever time these threads get started…

Howver, I do believe that the Good Dr. A. Phibes wins this round. The proof is in the bands website URL "rockmerollmejackylmeoff"

But it's also proven fact that GTR=SHT, "Cotten-Eyed Joe" is about as low as one can go one hit wonder wise and Blues Hammer is representative of some really crap suburban blues bands out there.

p.s. the only reason i know the Jackyl website is that I had hoped they would have been missing from that receeding hairline metal fest in ROCKLAHOMA as a way to proven that even crap 80s bands whose gimmick was a chainsaw are occasionally forgotten. Sadly it wasn't the case cause there they were…
Dispatch.

Hands down.

I saw them live once, a 3 piece jam band that was relatively big (are they still big) because of myspace and giving away their music. You can not have a 3 piece jam band when no one can hold their own on the instruments, flubbed notes, poor singing/harmonizing/just dying songs had many who were not there for the show openly claiming "worst ever".

Who, who is putting down Led Zepplin, the Dead, or Rush or the others actually saw them live in their heyday? Some bands I do not like any of their studio work (or very little), but live they can really put it on, entertain a crowd, and hook even the casual listener in. I was talking to a friend who was into the first punk explosion in the UK (saw the Sex Pistols first time round). Hated Led Zep but a friend begged him to go to the show. In the end he was won over, not a fan but respected them and said it was a great show.

So again, dispatch followed closely by Evanescence and Book of Love. This is based on touring bands headlining gigs.
well i've never seen Evanescence but was going to mention them as a nomination, but did have the misfortune of seeing book of love once live as support to depeche mode.
I saw Nickelback open up for Gwar, no lie.

Dr. Doom hit the nail on the head. I was asking for people to discuss and (possibly) agree on which bands deserve the moniker 'Worst Band Ever,' and maybe come up with some objective criteria by which bands can be judged. Whether or not they should be judged, I don't care.

And most of the threads in this forum make me yawn, kosmo. One-sided discussions galore. At least this provokes arguments on musical merit. And I'm bored. :)
Obviously none of you ever picked up the Ace of Base CD when it came out 15 years ago or so.

"The Sign" might perhaps be the worst song ever by the worst band ever.
how can i take your musical opinions seriously, when no one has mentioned the Vengaboys or 2 Unlimited* yet? we're going to eat pizza, ta da dada da da daaa da…

* bjork's cover notwithstanding, of course
hootie & the blownuts
Kottonmouth Kings
OK lets pull out the white board and brainstorm some criteria… Remember there is judgment on ideas presented in this first phase.

It must be a band not the creation of producers in a studio. (The likes of Milli Vanilli, Ace of Base, etc were designed to be disposable.)
The band must have reached a large audience in terms of sales or touring.
The band must be truly incomptent in a couple areas, songwriting, musical talent, ability to perform material live, etc.

GO
Ahh man, Kottonmouth kings are fantastic!

Whoever mentioned the Beatles in this thread should be hung. I don't care about opinions when it comes to the Beatles. They are the best band ever to walk the earth. Period.

By the way, Josh from 9:30 is the man.
adding to the whiteboard session: i fully agree with all of kosmo's criteria, and further add that the band gets extra demerit points if they actually take themselves seriously, think that they're artistes, etc.

about the "no studio creations" clause - where does that leave britney? does she count as a studio creation?

OMG. no one has mentioned federline or paris hilton, they both have major label releases. we should all be fired. this thread is officially pointless.
