NHL Playoffs Thread...

a complete 180 from last year.

amazing how fragile chemistry, desire, experience, etc can be on a team.

loved to see Ottawa get beaten & beaten up (especially after that ass Sun columnist called for injuries.)

I wish venerable were in the country to talk about the sharks….

Did I mention how happy I am that venerable is out of the country?

4 power play goals. Play agressively, you'd better be able to kill a power play.
well, after the weekend i sum up….

- Finally we beat Montreal (yes, charlie, i play on the team)

- The rangers are much better than i thought.

- the sharks are much worse than i thought.

- if the wild / avs series had to be decided by a 2-game advantage, it would never end.

- pittsburgh is gonna totally sweep ottawa

- sean avery cracks me up.

- my dishnetwork center ice has shown the Bruins 11 times in high definition this year, they are 0-11. last night was in SD and none of the rest of their 1st round games are in HD.

- capitals should ask fans to wear last seasons hockey jerseys to game 5 and see how many of these fans actually have one.
Ahem. Now that's more like it. I wasn't happy about giving up 2 in the third, but I'll take 3 in the first 14 mins anytime.
i really don't know who i want to win avs/wild.

i fucking hate the avs, especially since that glass-body forsberg merc'ed his way back in. but i fucking DESPISE jaques lemaire for ruining hockey with the invention of the neutral zone trap…13 years later, and the refs still waffle on holding or obstruction in the playoffs.

lemaire killed the game, and the only way to rectify it is to adopt a wider, international surface to allow skill players more room to create.

and also, allow more fighting. less leg-stomps and less axe-handles, and subsequently, less suspensions, if you just allow the boys to sort it out on the ice. disney can go to hell. they're really not supporting the sport anyway. see also espn.
damn, someone woke up on the wrong side of the boards today!
Current series standings…

WEST
Wings up 2-1
Sharks/Flames even 2-2
Stars up 2-1
Avs/Wild even 2-2

EAST
Habs in up 3-1
Pens in up 3-1
Flyers up 2-1
Rangers up 2-1
I have a feeling we're a game or two away from the annual Mid-April Marty Turco Suicide Watch in Dallas.
Pens are up 3-0.

I like the way you think, although I've never really felt it was up to him. If the Ducks start every game hitting the way they did last night and causing that much commotion, they're going to be tough to beat.

Last year wasn't Turco's fault; Turco was great, Luongo was simply transcendent. Fact remains that the perception is that Turco is soft and folds in the playoffs and if Anaheim pulls it out, even if every game left is 1-0 in 3OTs, Turco will get blamed.

That said, Game 4 is the entire series. If the Stars win it, they're winning the series. If the Ducks win Game 4, Ducks in 6.

Yeah but that doenst count the 4th game that will prevent the sweep. DOH
I don't know what would be more embarrassing if I was a Sens fan. Being swept in the first round. Or the WWE-style intro to Monday's game.

Just drop the friggin' puck.

Fore straight - Next!

ppg:

Burning question: What would be the Penguins' most intriguing second-round matchup?
Breakdown: The Rangers, with ex-Penguins Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka and Michal Rozsival (plus Jordan Staal's brother, Marc) would be interesting, but nothing would beat a Penguins-Capitals series. Alexander Ovechkin against the Penguins' young guns would make for the most compelling storyline. Far less intriguing would be Penguins-Devils or Penguins-Bruins. There is no scenario in which the Penguins would play the top-seeded Canadiens or the sixth-seeded Flyers.

PuckSpeak: "I did (like Mellon Arena) when I used to play here, but it's not easy when everybody's booing you when you touch the puck." - Jagr, during his most recent visit to Pittsburgh.

Looking ahead: The Penguins were 3-3-2 against the Rangers this season, topping three goals only once. They were 3-0-1 against the Capitals, with one of the wins in overtime and the loss in a shootout. They were 2-2 against the Bruins, though one loss was with what amounted to a split squad after the trade deadline. Finally, the Penguins were 4-3-1 against the Devils, scoring four or more goals four times. They outscored New Jersey, 9-1, in the final two meetings of the season.

Drooling @ the thought of them facing the one-man band.

I don't get the Pen's fans booing him? (besides him being a big douchebag)
He never did anything bad to the team while he was there. Is it 'cause he cut the mullet?
i was at a pens/rangers game last season. talked to kasper in the elevator. good times

That's it….

"No Mullet, not welcome in Pittsburgh"
I hope the Capitals lose, if only for the fact that they are on Vs. and blacked out on my TV. Yet, I dont get CSN-MA. So not only do i not get to see the games, but Vs. doesnt show a different game to those blacked out, so i get to watch Boston in SD and i get NADA in HD.

and now i am listening to the 2-OT game on the radio…like its 1963.

fuckers.
