best 3 song sequence on an album

See, I think a good Pavement trio is:

Gold Soundz
5-4=unity
Range Life

I think the instrumental kind of breaks things up nicely. this is one I planned to post and then saw some others had commented on Pavement.

Also: Beastie Boys - Ill Communication

Root Down
Sabotage
Get It Together

ok, i'll agree with that. which begs a question- did pavement purposefully throw in a crappy song to mix things up? as i noted above, take out 5-4=unity and unfair, gold soundz and range life are classic pavement songs. . .what i can't remember is, and smackie made the reference above, was the album made for album/tape or cd? obviously, that would make a difference on setting up the tracks.
I never got into The Sprawl. However, the trilogy at the end of Daydream might be a contender!

First three songs (although every song on the album is amazing)
Walk on the Wildside
Make Up
Satellite of Love

Lou Reed - Transformer
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One

Sugarcube

Interesting topic.

I've always thought every great record has to have a really kick-ass three song suite that you could just listen to on repeat all day…or at least I've found that to be the case on the ones that I fall in love with.

Anyway, not sure if I'd classify AiH's "In Case We Die" as a truly great record….but I could definitely listen to these three on repeat:

4. Wishbone
5. Maybe You Can Owe Me
6. Do the Whirlwind
Sennen

The Widows CD

These 3 songs are at the end of the disc and always make me want to start the CD over again from the beginning, especially since the 1st song, I Couldn't Tell You, is just as good and powerful as this trio of songs. The 1st 2 songs on this list actually slide right into each other making them a natural pair.

 • <font size="2" face="Arial, Veranda">6. One And The Same Thing</font></li>
 • <font size="2" face="Arial, Veranda">7. Widows</font></li>

Sun - self-titled cd

2. Reach For The Sky
3. Leave It On Its Own
4. Moon
led zeppelin - houses of the holy

1. song remains the same
2. rain song
3. over the hills and far away
The Sprawl is definitely the weak link of the three. I was thinking about the trilogy, but I don't think Eliminator Jr. (the last part)is up to par with the other two sections.

I would consider In Case We Die to be a pretty great album.

As far as pavement goes, I would say the first three songs from Brighten the Corners:

1.Stereo
2.Shady Lane
3.Transport is Arranged

And, how about from Modest Mouse's Lonesome Crowded West:

1.Doin the Cockroach
2.Cowboy Dan
3.Trailer Trash

I'd also consider it a great album.
6. Because I Do
7. Blue Spark
8. Dancing With Tears In My Eyes

X's Under the Big Black Sun

1. Working Girls (Sunlight Shines)
2. 7:30
3. Our Time Has Passed

Oh definitely a good choice. Song Remains the Same still stands as my ultimate "get the adrenaline pumping" song.
ok kinda of hard to play along without one of them fancy digital music players or a stack of cds… so with a stack next to me.

"Scary Monsters(and Super Creeps)"
"Ashes to Ashes"
"Fashion"

Prince - "1999"
"1999"
"Little Red Corvette"
"Delirious"

Brendan Benson - "One Mississippi"
"Tea"
"Bird's Eye View"
