everybodys dmb opinion

I hate to admit to knowing this (it's my wife's fault), but "Your Body is a Wonderland" is a John Mayer song, not Dave Matthews. Though perhaps you weren't implying it was Dave, now that I reread your post.

Along with that "your body is a wonderland" song, these are some of the dumbest lyric nuggets I've ever heard. God only knows what lyrical treasures are hidden in the DMB catalog.

An ex gf of mine tended bar at the Floodzone in Richmond about 15 years ago..DMB had a weekly or monthly gig there she had the pleasure to work. She hated those nights. Who woulda thought they'd become international superstars? When I think of DMB I see Coors Light, backwards baseball hats, and intolerant frat boys. Not my scene at all.
Any DMB fan would be hard pressed to say that the band's music over the last few years had the same luster of their early work. I suspect that Dave's alcohol problems played a big part in the stagnation of the band's sound. However, it's also hard to deny the merits of their early albums (Remember Two Things through Before These Crowded Streets) along with some of their live material (Luther College and Red Rocks especially). Their music had incredible musicianship combined with some very accessible and catchy songs. Considering what music DMB was competing with in the mid-90's (metal/industrial, the waning days of Seattle rock, the coming days of boy bands and nu-metal), they really did have a good, unique sound. All in all, there have been a lot worse bands to hit the top of the charts.

With that said, "Everyday" was a stinking pile of turd. I'm hoping for better things out of them with their new album, but I'll probably wait a bit before putting down any money on it.
I totally agree with that, the early stuff is amazing, whereas lately they havent been on top of their game, as it were. Ive heard some stuff from the new album however, and it sounds pretty damn good, i dunno. That being said, whats everybodys opinion on other jam bands? Any phish love? allmans? bela fleck?
The Jam was an excellent band; Style Council not so excellent.

Actually, most of the other bands that were identified as jam bands never did anything for me. I'm not saying any of those other bands are bad (because I save my deepest condemnation for Linkin Park and John Mayer), but I never found their music that compelling.

dude, you can't shine a turd.
DMB is the band for people who don't really know what rock'n'roll is. I'm sorry, but based on the people I knew in college that like his stuff, it's the soundtrack for people who have never had good sex, never got out of the suburbs, and who think that you can eat good food at places like the Olive Garden. There is nothing to me about DMB that is extraordinary. Yes, he can play guitar. Yes, the other people in the band can play their instruments. But when it all comes together it has about as much balls as the Vienna Boys Choir. It's just my opinion, can't help it…I feel like I have Tourette's whenever they come on the radio and the only remedy is to go listen to about 5 hours of Black Sabbath, Black Flag and Minor Threat on loop. The only bands I hate more than DMB are probably the Barenaked Ladies, Everything, and maybe Emmet Swimming. Whew…OK, I feel better now!

And for the record, I think it says something that they were the band dripping piss and shit while driving along. Makes me crack up every time I hear about it.

Does anyone still listen to the radio? Why? Why would anyone subject themselves to what passes for radio stations these days?
The early Style Council was excellent, it all went downhill with Weller's expanding ego.
it seems alot of people i know that listened to dmb in college have moved on to the super commercial mainstream country

allright, jesus guys im sry i posted. You can just say u dont like it without making a big fuckin deal. For the record, im a casual fan. I am not in a fraternity, nor do i wear baseball caps. I listen to lots of different music, and am open to suggestions about music I should be listening to. So instead of pointlessly flaming the dmb, tell me some music u think i should spend my time listening to instead

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

That was good, Bede.

Guess you could say that he doesn't know his shit from shinola.
Ask a question on this thing and you'll get an honest answer. If you asked people what they think about Radiohead I'm sure you'd get lovers and haters too. We tend to have strong opinions and we take our music seriously otherwise we wouldn't be here. But take it with a grain of salt too…sarcasm and jest doesn't often come through over the internet. My post, for example, is meant to be humorous, but I'm also being honest.
