[qb] Alright, for argument sake, let's say you lived in Nebraska. Or somewhere else where the travel expense to any one of them is equal.

Using your analogy, I guess a vacation at Ocean City would be a better deal than a vacation on the French Riviera.
not if i lived in France!
Ok, gotcha.

I don't have any interest in a vacation in OC or MB, nor do I want to go to either festival. So perhaps you are "spot on"…as the wannabe hipsters say…in your comparison.

Good for you for being enthusiastic about the Virgin Fest.

:)
i almost feel stupid….

i cant wait til they open the forum on their site so i can discuss this show with people who are actually going.

and for the record, i wish the lineup was better…but i love festivals and glad i can go to one and sleep in my bed afterwards! :)
one of my friend bought his tickets on the presale and got the e-tickets and said you were allowed to bring Beer and wine and soda to the show.

now, i am saying 100% thats just not true and they just copied the rules from Preakness, but really…that would be pretty awesome!

does this mean there wont be ANY jews at the concert???? none at all???
fuck rosh hashana, we just have better taste in music and a better sense of a bargain than to shell out $50 more than we should for this festival because two bands we could give a shit about seeing are anchoring the bill

:D
I would rather it wasn't on Rosh Hashana but this was the only date that worked with the key parties involved

so the choice was simply to move forward, or not

I grew up not being allowed to do things like this on Rosh Hashana although, of course, the rest of the world went on while my family made that choice

when I became an adult I was able to make those choices for myself

If someone finds that faith and tradition is more important than going to a rock concert, then I totally respect that decision, as it is a personal one

I hope that those same people will also respect the decisions that other people make for themselves

let freedom ring

after further discussion i believe this show will sell out tomorrow.

That's not a ring it's a lapel pin.

I think I am beginning to understand. Jews attend these Holiday thingies not because they are devoutly religious, in point of fact many are self-professed athiests who claim to be into "Eastern Religions". They attend because they are afraid that if they don't go to these holiday services then they will become totally assimilated into American society…and lose their Jewish identity.

Am I getting warmer..? I read this in Newsweek, BTW. So it must be true.

If these people were the ones making the money, they wouldn't have a problem with it either.

Which is a better deal? Virgin Fest, 97.50 for one day, or Osheaga Fest in Montreal $80 Canadian (=$65 American?) for two days?
Considering I have to fly to Montreal, find a place to stay and eat out at restaurants, VF is by FAR the better deal.

And supporting Seth, IMP and the local scene: priceless.
