Virgin Mobile Fest Baltimore 2009 date set?

Green Day and Fleet Foxes in DC the same night. M. Ward the very next night. That makes two mights in a row at the 9:30 Club in the summer where there is a good show going on. Rare indeed.

Doesn't it look like the bands that would have been playing V-Fest around that time are getting booked elsewhere?
haha no I did not write it. It is useless but like I stated since there has been no new news I just figured why not.. keep it out there even as pointless as it might be.

so, if you subscribe to the theory that that blink/fob/weez tour will coincide with VFest, that means the festival will be the weekend of 29-30 august.

on the upside that means it won't conflict with lolla or APW.  that's a huge plus.

on the downside it's still hot as hell that time of year (please bring back the late september date!).  the other serious downside is that the blink tour will be at VFest.

Looking at the other openers on that tour, I hope it doesn't come to Vfest.  It's pretty much a who's who of shitty pop-rock, Weezer, and Asher Roth.
This tour being at Virgin would be a good thing in my opinion.

I want to see Weezer.  I do not want to see Blink 182.

If they stopped here in non festival form I would either have to pay full price to see a shortened Weezer set or not go at all (which is what I would have done).

With them both at Virgin, I can see a full 1:15-30 set and than see whoever is closing the night of Blink 182 on the other stage.

and I doubt Asher Roth is part of the festival.  unless he offers to play for free.

Asher Roth is playing Lolla, why wouldn't he play vfest too?
Hollywood Undead did play last year, why not Asher.

I tried to listen to his single.  What garbage.
I try to pretend I still live in a world where "Hollywood Undead" do not exist.
If Blink/FallOutBoy/Weezer is a big part of the VFest headliners, I wonder if Seth is going to come on here to gauge our reaction like last year and get his feelings hurt, again, when he's shocked that maybe 4 of us are going to go.
I love Weezer, i dislike Blink and I hate fallout.  It would be a good festival bill though.  Put someone like Dylan against Fall Out and someone like Pearl Jam against Blink.

Fall Out Boy is playing Reading/Leeds that weekend, so they will not be at VFest, if this is VFest. If Pearl Jam was playing, they'd probably be on a completely seperate day as Blink, I'd imagine, but good idea. Blur seems like a realistic second-stage headliner to put across from the poop-punk pioneers.

I don't think Dylan will be back for a second year in a row, especially since he's already announced his summer tour, and he's playing towards the end of July in Aberdeen.
Maybe you're all onto something with the Pearl Jam rumor. It would explain the delay in announcing the V-Fest lineup since PJ is slowly leaking out tour dates (Europe, Chicago, Toronto, ACL, SF). If they're playing, I'm there. I wouldn't care who else is on the bill.
Well, the openers for the recent Blink tour have (apparently) been confirmed here:

http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1070232

for the TBA DC Date, it lists this:

Aug. 30: Washington, D.C. (Meriwether Festival Grounds) @ $ &

@ = Weezer
$ = Taking Back Sunday
& = Chester French

Aug 30th is a Sunday, hmmmm.

So should we go ahead and take this as a confirmation? The thing is, I can see Weezer playing, and I guess chester french too, but TBS? They just played last year. Doesn't make sense.
It confirms two headliners and that Virgin is going to be at Merriweather Post Pavilion.  Very unfortunate they could not have it at Pimlico or any other large space.
In just three short years, this thing sinks from the Who to Blink 142. Wow.

Also, it would confirm that the show is on August 30th, and since thats a Sunday, that would make it likely that it will be a 2-day thing.

So Rhett, as for "sinking" to Blink 172, there still could be a big headliner on Saturday night. And Blink , like them or not, is as big as RHCP, Nine Inch Nails or anyone else who's "headlined" Vfest (Save the Who and the Police).
how exactly does blink-182 + weezer @ merriweather = v-fest?  i read it as two bands already on tour making a regular tour stop….
Blink 182 is as big as RHCP?

I personally think the conclusion is being jumped to far too soon, but considering all the rumors about Vfest at Merriweather, and Blink playing, etc, I guess I don't blame people.
