you forgot nickelback.  they're the grunge band for the non indie generation, who love vip sections with free finger food and cheap wine in a plastic cups.

God damn it I knew I was missing something.

If Muse is opening for U2 does that mean that they're gonna be doing solo shows at some point? Aren't they working on a new album? I'd loooooooooooove to see them again.

are you trying to replace me as the person who never talks about the thread topic in the thread of the topical topic?  ;)
Ha, well I was leaning towards maybe Muse could be at Vfest? That would be the bees knees. ALthough they aren't at any other festivals. But as said on previous pages, Vfest is really a cookie cutter type festival.
Metallica is across the pond until 8/2

If they were waiting on Metallica than the date would most likely be 8/22-23.  They don't have a date set in the area for Metallica's year end tour so it makes some sense.

And while everyones throwing names out.. Faith No More would be awesome for anything. Just saying Seth…..
Mike jackson is deff a name to consider. Also paul. elton john has a show in july at dc so i doubt he would be there.  DATES???????
Will the Virgin Mobile Festival return this year?

It's a good question. And as of right now, I don't know the answer.

In fact, the future of Pimlico and the Preakness is up in the air.

Yesterday, I e-mailed Virgin Mobile Festival publicist Audrey Fix Schaefer, who said there is "no news to report."

That doesn't bode well for the festival …

By now, pretty much all of the other major summer music festivals have announced their lineups. Even the roster for the V Festival in England has gone public, and tickets are on sale.

But Virgin Mobile Festival promoter Seth Hurwitz has kept mum about the future of the annual Baltimore event. And I can't say I blame him. Who books a festival at a venue that could be torn down in six months?

If it were to happen, this would be the Virgin Mobile Festival's fourth year at Pimlico. And though attendance has slumped the past couple of years, Hurwitz has been happy with the festival.

Still, the longer we wait for an announcement, the less likely the festival will come back to Baltimore.

I got my wife with that one at her office and she was so mad at me.
dunno why everyone is foaming at the mouth over yet another "alternative" rock festival…. i'd much rather see a mainstream "indie" fest at merriweather in sept around the time of CMJ  bet we'll see the likes of Phoenix touring around these parts them

what else are we going to talk about?  funny names for bands that haven't already been used . . . like satan's pussy?

Because people need to schedule travel plans and vacation. Luckily, I teach during the week so I won't have to worry about vacation, but I do need to know whether I should plan a trip up to New Jersey for APW. I'd rather not see the cheap tickets to Lollapalooza or APW sell out before V-Fest is even announced.

that's actually not a bad name for a band
if the v fest isn't in baltimore, then i don't give 2 shits about it
as long as there is a dance tent, i'm down.
