The Olympics Thread

glad i didn't end up betting anything last night (not that i would have, i'm not a big gambler either and wouldn't know where to place a bet if i wanted to).  i would have gotten the over on CAN-RUS, but lost on USA -2.5.

caps fans seem pretty salty over russia's choke job last night. not sure i totally get that

i'd suspect they don't like the fact that their big superstar didn't show up, and are afraid this "slump" will carry over to his return to washington.  if ovie couldn't pull it together at the olympics, which he was on record as being highly motivated for, what will this mean for his regular day job?
i'd think he'd come back to dc pissed and take it out on the rest of the league

i mean, malkin didnt play well either and i'm not really giving it much thought
I think 80% of Caps fans were not Caps fans prior to Ovechkin, therefore, on some level, they're truly fans of him, not the Caps.

This also goes for the Penguins/Crosby on some level as well, although not to as great a degree.

have you seen the danish men's team?!?

my bad. i should've said dress like referees and shuffleboard players.
i can't lie……you watch it enough you get sucked into watching it.

i told ya… it's an oddly captivating sport.  after you've watched a little bit and gotten a hang of the game, every single end (curling's equivalent of an inning, for the unaware) becomes an object of intrigue.  nothing is decided until the last stone, so how will he/she get himself/herself out of this jam?

Oh yeah? How do you figure, there, champ?
just following the precedent of previous incidents where you unintentionally insulted many/all women.

either that, or apparently i'm no one (but we already knew that…)

"Rebecca Johnston actually tried to drive the ice-resurfacing machine."

Really?  The NYT can write an entire story about a bunch of lesbians partying but can't say Zamboni?

As the Zamboni company is quick to point out, the Vancouver Olympics are utilizing sub-standard Canadian built ice resurfacing machines; not real Zamboni's.

i dont dispute either point

i will say that i do find the over the top hate people send sid's way pretty funny. i wouldnt get 87 on a sweater if i still lived in pittsburgh, but i wear crosby stuff like crazy, just because people hate him so much
USA - Finland
USA -0.5
Over/Under: 4.5

Canada - Slovakia
Canada -2.0
Over/Under: 6
Is there a slaughter rule in Olympic hockey?

Yeah, you'd have to be a really big pussy to have a sweater with Crosby on it.  Especially if it was the light blue one…..
