OSCAR TALK or Why Mad Max Is The Best Movie of the Year, Sidehatch
It seems like the men have to be good looking to get the good roles. The women, not so much.

One of the weakest slate of Best Picture nominees in a while. Woof. If anything other than Roma or The Favourite wins, expect it to be on those "worst films to win Best Picture" lists until the end of time.
I agree.
My pick is The Favourite……….Roma is good, but it's not a movie that I'd see again.

That said, its going to probably turn up being Green Book (a film that is perfectly fine but I never need to rewatch for any reason) with Cuaron getting Direction.
I guess I have to go see Vice now? *shudders*
Never been a Spike Lee fan, but I though Black KKKlansman was a great watch.
Also pulling for Free Solo.
Haven't seen very many of these movies nomimated, as usually go the Netflix dvd route rather than the theater.
And these two were great together announcing the nominations. They should have them host.
Kumail Nanjiani (THE BIG SICK) and Tracee Ellis Ross (star of ABC's black-ish)

I'm a big fan of both of them and think that would be a great idea
No one mentioned Seth getting snubed for Best actor in a minor role category for Green Book
hatchberder wrote:At no point in his performance did I forget I was watching Seth act which is, by definition, bad acting. No snub.

Leave No Trace was snubbed.
As was the Mr. Rogers Doc.

What a breakout for Thomasin McKenzie. Foster is always solid.
There's a huge Best Doc snub every single year so this wasn't all that surprising to me. Also rooting for Free Solo. Honnold is a madman.
no love for If Beale Street Could Talk…
I've been going to see the nominated short films for the last few years. Sometimes they're great, sometimes they're awful (like that Kobe Bryant one that won the Oscar last year), but they're always entertaining.

I've been catching up on my 2018 movies. Vice was great. Bohemian Rhapsody was entertaining but hardly worthy of its awards. Green Book is a message, not a movie. Watching Roma tonight.
Name one great rock and roll movie

Stop Making Sense. David Byrne is mesmerizing. And any of the Stone concert films. I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. Should I have stopped at one?
Any of the Stone concert films?!? Really
Shine a light?
I am trying to break your heart is horrible ….I hate what they do to jay in it
