Books

That book is on my list for the weekend.

I've been reading a bunch. All have been pretty good! Here's a list:

Little Eyes - Samanta Schweblin
Red at the Bone - Jaqueline Woodson
Killers of the Flower Moon - David Grann
The Warmth of Other Suns - Isabel Wilkerson (required reading IMO)
Euphoria - Lily King
Know My Name: A Memoir - Chanel Miller
Why We Can't Sleep: Women's New Midlife Crisis - Ada Calhoun
The Yellow House - Sarah M. Broom
Horror Stories - Liz Phair

I wish I had some good fiction books I could brag about reading recently, but I've been on a steady diet of political books since the fall

Un-Trumping America: A Plan to Make America a Democracy Again
Book by Daniel Pfeiffer

Running Against the Devil: A Plot to Save America from Trump–and Democrats from Themselves Hardcover
by Rick Wilson

Haven't finished this one, but it's great so far:
Democracy in One Book or Less: How It Works, Why It Doesn't, and Why Fixing It Is Easier Than You Think
by David Litt

Next:
The Kids Are All Left: How Young Voters Will Unite America

On deck after that
James Monroe: A Life
by Tim McGrath

Oh wait…there were a few good non-political ones
To Throw Away Unopened: Viv Albertine
Catch and Kill: Ronan Farrow
Circe: Madline Miller
Oh the Viv Albertine is supposed to be great..I want to read it sometime

it's not, but ultimately is one not consuming the same content?

in fact, most of the books listed are read by the author (my preference)

or do paper books feel warmer?
As the starter of this thread some 15 years ago maybe I should contribute a little

Books I have read during the pandemic

Jeff Tweedys bio - highly recommend - funny, self aware, and humanizing - I sort of thought he was a douche and hadn't listened to Wilco in a long time but he seems like a great guy and I've had them on heavy rotation ever since

Goldfinch - Donna Tarth - very good

The Underground Railroad - Colson Whitehead - very good

A book about Overwatch in an effort to understand my son

https://www.amazon.com/Young-Guns-Obsession-Overwatch-Future/dp/0316421383

Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents - very good, kind of terrifying and a little too close to what's going on right now - RIYL The Handmaids Tale

A Very Stable Genius - a good but ultimately psychologically exhausting read
Legends always return  :D

Welcome back!

I've been knee deep in Jigsaw puzzle dust these last few months. so no interesting books to share…
I had the exact same reaction and experience with Jeff Tweedy and his book. Uncanny.
HOW TO WRITE ONE SONG
New book by Jeff Tweedy, available October 13th

“The feeling I get when I write—the sense that time is simultaneously expanding and disappearing—that I’m simultaneously more me and also free of me—is the main reason I wanted to put my thoughts on songwriting down in book form to share with everyone so inclined.” - Jeff Tweedy

If you liked Jeff's best-selling memoir, Let's Go (So We Can Get Back), you're gonna love this. How To Write One Song is a conversational guide on loving the things we create. Jeff offers actionable tips on: overcoming the negative voice inside your head, playing with language, recording methods, building a creative schedule, and more.

Inspiration and motivation awaits. Preorder now.
sweet and he is narrating the audio book as well

How to Write One Song: Loving the Things We Create and How They Love Us Back
Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Jeff Tweedy (Author, Narrator),

I am telling you, even if you read it already, I highly recommend the audiobook
Jeff is a great storyteller and his comic timing is on point
was like being in the room and he was just telling you the story
176 pages….

I mean if it was Hemingway it would be cool but…

Going to have to wait til I find it used

The autobiography is fantastic

I continue devouring Carl Hiaasen books..only five or so more to go…currently on Basket case…about the murder of former rockstar frontman for the Slut Puppies..Hiaasen puts me more in touch with the average American
Is the Tweedy autobiography available as an audiobook?

We're going on a long ass car ride tomorrow and my wife and daughter both hate my music.
Garbage
