Books

Excited to read this oral bio about one of my favorites…..it’s rare in Argentina to have books about bands…usually very small editions and hard to get in the USA…in fact this is the first oral biography I have ever come across about an Argentine act

Ramping up excitement for their September 15 show at Lincoln
REQUIRED READING: 79 ROCK MEMOIRS

how many have you read?  pretty sure hutch has us all beat…
I've read about six of these, but this gives me some ideas of ones to put in the queue
I can't believe I've not read "get in the van" yet

next up is Cinema Speculation by Quentin Tarantino

Can't believe Steve Jones's or Matlock's book didn't make this list
Nah I have only read 27 and 3-4 I didn’t make it all the way
this looks interesting…love the title!
Went to the Arlington public library sale…had been a few years…maybe 5.

Sign of the times I guess but they no longer have CDs, LPs or DVDs.

I didn’t stick around too long but picked up

John Swed: Alan Lomax- The man who recorded the world
Geoff Emerick- Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of the Beatles (Foreword by Elvis C.)
Bob Dylan - The Nobel Lecture
Jorge Luis Borges - Obra Poética

As usual place was a zoo of mostly annoying resellers scanning every book

My last time going I think…

in case anyone is looking for recommendations: The Time 100 Must-Read Books of 2023
Gonna read the new George Harrison book and the Mal Evans book.
I read Portnoy’s Complaint by Philip Roth a few days ago. Wow. Definitely not recommending it to my mother!

Currently reading Graham Swift’s Last Orders…I love Graham Swift..

Probably another Roth book after that…who knows…
Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography

the audiobook of this is amazing
was crying on I-95 when his daughter reads the last entry
Man I finished Last Orders….three days…

I know Swift said it was a comedy but it made me sad…having said that what a wonderful book…those key almost spontaneous decisions one makes that define our entire lives…

Kind of curious to see how they could compress it into a movie….would have to be a really tight screenplay…

Also makes me think of a few friends I hardly ever see anymore…
I just started Lucinda's autobiography…they had it at my local library.
I read that…good book
I was pretty shocked about the Ryan Adams bit….
Finally picked this up….

re-reading this:

Hoping for Vol 2 in the next decade.
I wonder why it’s taking so long?!Is he waiting for all the principals to die?
I hope he finishes it before I die!!  I've heard rumors that he completed all his research and is writing Vol 2 and 3 together. He is a prolific researcher.  I hope that rumour is true and Vol 3 follows 2 a little quickly.
