Well then you should be accusing the Anaheim Angels and Chicago White Sox of rampant homosexuality since unlike your precious overpaid pieces o' shite, they're still playing. [/QB]
Why should I be doing that? The better teams won, I even gave congrats to Vansmack and not calling his teams players gay because they were better. Why not call Beltran gay? He's overpaid also along with probably 100 other guys in the league.

Well the fact that he's not a nancy boy who runs like he's holding a purse has alot to do with it.

Did he even run the bases enough times to determine that fact?

like i read somewhere, a-rod is the most dangerous hitter in baseball when his team is up by 5 runs.

Actually, there was an article out there that was talking about how that is so last year. He was a very good clutch hitter this year. I knew I should have saved it. I mean he was no David Ortiz when it came to clutch, but he was a billion times better than he was last year.

exactly.

but lets see who get that MVP award…..

cause it doesnt get anyone all upset…thats why ;)
A-Rod will get it because the Yank's won the division even though they had the same record, he is a positioned player and I believe (but not positive) he led in more offensive catagories. At least we know Bonds will not win it in the NL, that is a good thing.

Complete bullshit. So many things were wrong with that play, starting with the umpire calling him out, then lying about it.

We were wronged.

Fortunately for all of you, I will have nothing more to say.
Having now watched the entire game over charting the umpires patterns for calling a strike out:

Nearly every strike out was called with the unpires right arm sticking out first, then the pumped fist signaling the out sign. Only Carl Everett's strike out in the 6th and Q's strikeout in the 7th were called differently.

Five other third strikes hit the dirt prior to the ninth inning. In the four times the batter was out (GA in the second was called a foul tip), the umpire did not make the last fist pump signifying an out until after the catcher tagged the batter with the ball. Even two batters prior to Pierzynski, Aaron Rowand swung at a ball in the dirt and the umpire did not pump his fist until after the catcher tagged the batter.

This is in stark contrast to how the umpire handled the last out in the ninth, where he pumped his fist as did for every other strike out that did not hit the dirt.

If the umpire thought the ball hit the ground, he wouldn't (or shouldn't) have made the out call until Josh Paul tagged the runner, as he did every other dropped third strike in the game.

Amazing.

You can watch for yourself:

Garrett Anderson in the second
Bengie Mo in the 6th
Konerko in the 6th
Konerko in the 8th
Rowand in the 9th
I feel for you Vansmack, that was definetely one of those plays you never expected to see. I personally thought he caught the ball. But even if he didn't, an out call was made. Of course, their will be people on here that say bad calls happen all the time so deal with it…….But that one just hurt for you I know.
at least you werent playing the Yankees…

not even close, was the world series and the Cardinals had the lead at the time, and Orta was clearly out while I think whether or not the ball hit the ground is debateable

but it is still an awful call because of the way the ump handled it

well, i think the whole point of this is that the ump called the batter out, then said he didn't.

i was just trying to rile the cardinal fan. :)
Anytime an umpire/referee/official shows up at a press conference with a guy in a trenchcoat, you can bet a lie is about to perpetrated.

Where's the accountability? Why can't they just admit they were wrong and blew the call?

i really just dont get why they dont like to ask for help, there are so many times where they could just ask an ump who had a better view but they wont

who was the guy in the trenchcoat anyway, i only saw part of it

i think that baseball umps, on the whole, do a good job of coming together and figuring it out. however, in this instance, no one could possibly have a good view of whether or not the ball hit the dirt. in any event, to me, and as smackie pointed out about his "style," eddings called him out, then said he didn't. this is a semioticians dream.
