V-Fest Prediction / Wishlist

you better keep em seperated
I'm very sorry for using the term "retarded." It was rude and insensitive of me to use that word and I sincerely apologize.

I wish the best of luck to those putting together V-fest 2008. It has to be a Sysiphean, thankless task. I also hope that everyone attending has a blast, enjoys the bands/artists and travels safe.

Brian
Queens of the Stone Age are playing the Toronto V Fest.
Stray Cats. They are doing a farewell to Europe tour that starts mid August.
wow, i return to read so much hate…

i can understand why hipsters might laugh at the offspring - i don't agree, but i understand. but jamiroquai? really? i didn't realize there was an ironic-t-shirt-brigade fatwa against them. then again, they do make people dance - which isn't a very popular activity with that set :p

jamiroquai played the 9:30 at least once, back in '97 or '98 i think… everyone that i've spoken to who was at that show raves about that night. i'm willing to bet that they still bring the funk.

I think Brian and ggw are neck and neck for Post of the Week.
really? i thought ggw's reply was leagues better than brian's… not that my assessment counts for anything in this thread, apparently.
I haven't listened to them in years, but that Jamiroquai show at the 9:30 was pretty fantastic. I've never seen the Offspring but don't feel any real need to. Frankly, I just wish Queens of the Stone Age would come back and do 2 shows at 9:30.

Me too :( But they rule festival crowds with an iron fist.

Add EODM to my wishlist, their new album hits this summer.

I'd take QOTSA or EODM.
If that's not part and parcel of music chatboards, then what is?

I mean, if you were on a baseball chatboard, wouldn't you rib somebody for liking a team you didn't care for?

Offspring
the offspring are one of the few bands i have left on my "need to see" list (jamiroquai being another biggie). would love to have dexter & co at vfest - on sunday, please.
Good God, are you serious? The two bands you "need to see" more than any others are Offspring and Jamiroquai!?!??!?!? Are you clincally retarded? What would the third band be? Sum 41? Bowling for Soup? Third Eye Blind?

Brian
i will never understand knocking someone for their tastes

does that make you feel hip?

I was there and remember the same thing. A great time. I can't ever remember a more eclectic mix of people at the club than that night. They also did a show at a 1/4 full Patriot Center that (aside from lousy sound in the building) was possibly even more fun because there was more room to dance.

I actually wore my Jamiroquai t-shirt to the gym today.
maybe Jamiroquai and co are better live these days, as i found their recorded material increasing insipid and lacking in the songwriting deparment… i can only take so much of steve wonder lite

got a good concert story through… on their first US tour well before the hit, they had a buy the CD see the show for free promo.. so it was like what the heck…

anyways about half way through the show, the group next to me sparks up one of those funny cigarettes, which draws the attention of the bands road manager. who then motions them to meet him at the side of stage. some sort of exchange goes down and moments later Jay has a much bigger version of one of those funny cigarettes in his hands, while the digerdoo player jammed on…
i saw Jamiroquai and the Offspring within 3 hours of each other, at Woodstock 99.

Jamiroquai > Offspring

As a sidenote the name for the tongue in cheek Eagles album is "Heart On".

Like boners.
I hope for: Rogue Wave, Nada Surf, Sonic Youth
I don't hope for: Metallica
ok, I'll hope for:

Holy fuck, Fink, Secret Machines and the Roots

and wish against:

jack johnson, foo fighters or any other band whose most famous song came in a year starting with 19.

So, you wouldn't like Radiohead?

So Seth .. since you're here…. Are any of us hot, or even warm and when are you going to blow our minds with said band announcements?
I'm tempted, as I can't wait to enjoy the uber-hip forumites declaring how they're going to travel halfway across the country for the one band that makes them so much cooler than those who are "retarded"
So you're a big Offspring and Jamiroquai fan then?

Just askin'…

i figured Radiohead was a definite no due to being in NYC (which i will be in attendance to on their Friday night performance)
Foo Fighters, STP, Chris Cornell, Nine Inch Nails (maybe), on and off again RATM, Metallica, the Killers, Fall Out Boy, Blue Man Group reunion of the original performers from HFStival 2000, Blind Melon, and the B-52's.

"Sisyphean"

if you're going to get mad esoteric on the vocab, at least do it right.
