and for my "OH MY GOD PLEASE GET THEM IN THE STATES" request: The Cardigans.

(They're supposed to tour for their greatest hits sometime this summer, so yeah!)
mark it on the books my friends….

Virgin Festival 2008:

*Stone Temple Pilots*
*Foo Fighters*
*Jack Johnson*
*Kanye West*
Bloc Party
Pendulum
Deadmau5
Rabbit in the Moon

* = Headliners
Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails. 3 Main Headliners. If NIN doesn't get announced for V Festival they will be back when NIN does a second leg of their USA tour in October/November.
My bets are on NIN, too. Mark the giant gap in their schedule that puts them almost certainly in the area for travel anyways:

August 8 Worcester MA DCU Center
August 12 Knoxville TN Knoxville Civic Coliseum
V-fest is the last place I'd want to see NIN do a show. Although it would be rather interesting to see if Filter was also on the bill…

The Foos are headlining the Toronto V-Fest. Would they do two? Would Virgin let them?

neither do i, particularly.

but if kanye does play, i hope they stick him on the small stage. i can only imagine the rant we'll get out of him, claiming that no one respects him, that he deserves to be on the main stage, etc etc etc :D
headliners announced
this guy's right…

i like to avoid giving dude props.
Hmm, not sure how I feel about the headliners. Last year, I was thrilled to see all the big names (Pumpkins, Police, Beastie Boys, Interpol). This year, it's kind of a big "eh."

Foo Fighters - I enjoy them, but they're not all that special. The live show is basically always the same - a lot of Grohl screaming, same old setlist, maybe a few acoustic songs. Foo Fighters are like Will Ferrell movies.

Stone Temple Pilots - I'm a big fan, and I loved them when I saw them at the NorVa in 2002, but I fear they'll play nothing but the hits. I also don't think they have that special something about them that the Pumpkins do (whether you like Corgan or not). If they play "Atlanta," the tickets will be worth it.

Kanye West - Ugh. Please book someone good on the other stage.

Jack Johnson - Ditto. I might watch a couple of songs, but I sure as hell am not excited to see him.

Nine Inch Nails - Interesting. Not quite the Woodstock '94 festival darlings any more, but I'm still very interested in seeing them. I wonder how much of Ghosts he'll plug into the set.

Let's hope that Seth brings the goods for the rest of the lineup because the headliners aren't quite worth $200 or more.

on to the next one….
I'm going to avoid Jack Johnson and Kanye like the plague, but hopefully there are good bands on the other stage as competition. Gotta see the full lineup.

Bloc Party could close the second stage across from Kanye or Jack Johnson on the main stage, and I'd be pretty down with that.

Offspring
the offspring are one of the few bands i have left on my "need to see" list (jamiroquai being another biggie). would love to have dexter & co at vfest - on sunday, please.
Good God, are you serious? The two bands you "need to see" more than any others are Offspring and Jamiroquai!?!??!?!? Are you clincally retarded? What would the third band be? Sum 41? Bowling for Soup? Third Eye Blind?

Brian
i will never understand knocking someone for their tastes

does that make you feel hip?
Oh Seth, that's only the tip of the iceberg from this character….we just consider him the board's version of the village idiot so get quite a bit of enjoyment out of him.

God dam it. How sad is it to say NIN and Kanye are the best things headlining.

And here I really didn't want to go to APW, but 2 nights of Radiohead > Jack Johnson, Kanye, FOo Fighters, STP, and NIN. But there's still the full line-up to see.

Sorry, Seth.

The headliners are a real bargain for 200$, but clearly on this board they aren't worth 200$. Im hoping the dance tent is bumping for both nights ebcause Im not watching any of the headliners.
I went last year but I doubt I'll be going this time.
