You can get it now from the UK sites for Amazon or HMV. The exchange rate and international shipping make it a bit expensive, but it beats waiting until August.

I've got a general question. I don't understand the interest in getting an album title or track names months before a release. It doesn't tell me anything. Am I missing something? I'm interested in the release date of an upcoming album, but lots of pre-release info seems useless. Not criticizing anyone's approach to their music luv, just wondering.
Sometimes, knowing the title in advance has helped me find a pre-release/promo copy in the used bins of record stores before the release date.

As for song titles, sometimes I've heard the songs live before, so knowing that the track they played live on the last tour will be on the album is cool to know.

But mostly, it's just because I'm a self-proclaimed music geek.
50 Foot Wave release their debut album "Golden Ocean" on this week.

Formed by Kristin Hersh in 2003, 50 Foot Wave released a self-titled mini album last year - 6 blistering songs whose electrifying energy astonished anyone who encountered them. Now the band follow that up with "Golden Ocean", their full-length debut.

50 Foot Wave is Hershâ??s first new band since she founded the influential Throwing Muses, and it's a harder, faster, more direct experience than anything she has recorded before. Kristin sums up her vision for 50 Foot Wave thus : "What could be more fun that turning everything up to 10 and screaming your head off for an hour every night?"

***

These are the songs which make up "Golden Ocean", as described by Kristin :

â?¢ Long Painting

"There was a company in Seattle called "Long Painting" that was being accused of poisoning the environment when we lived there. We also have a very "long painting" of my husband done by the artist Rufo, hanging in our living room. A little beauty, a little ugly…it all works out in the end. Or it's supposed to, anyway."

â?¢ Bone China

"Bones and dishes break, so does most everything else, especially when you're jumpy and twitchy."

â?¢ Clara Bow

"Summer is SO stupid and EVERYBODY likes it. Why? After she retired, Clara Bow moved out to the desert with her husband and sons and then lost control of her brain."

â?¢ Pneuma

"Pneuma is soul breath. We have to breathe through pollution and see past the idiots and hear each other through their inane chatter."

â?¢ Dog Days

"A dirty beach, angry coffee, a prickly touch… all things that are supposed to be soothing but which aren't always on your side."

â?¢ Petal

"Going home, you find out that home's gone, so you try to remember it exactly as it was."

â?¢ Sally Is A Girl

"This song is about a blackout in August in New Orleans. It's very hot there, even at night, so everybody was outside walking around, trying to keep cool. It didn't work. The title comes from an episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" about gender confusion and stereotyping."

â?¢ El Dorado

"This is a "life on the road" song, unfortunately. Sorry. Most of my life has been spent on the road. At least it's not a country song, though. When you get fried eggs in a diner, they always look like eyeballs."

â?¢ Ginger Park

"Remembering what it was like to grow up in a beach town… greasy french fries and glossy tourists. Diving… Killing time falling into each other, each of you hoping you're good enough for the other one."

â?¢ Golden Ocean

"The "golden ocean" is what my 8 year old son, Wyatt, calls the LA lights at night. He puts me to shame by seeing beauty in everything, when I just glance up and then back down again."
Bob Mould To Release New Solo Album In 2005

Bob Mould has announced the release date for his next solo record. On July 26, the former leader of Husker Du and Sugar will release Body Of Song on Yep Roc. Billboard reports that the new material will be acoustic-based, but will be more rock-oriented than 2002â??s Modulate.

Mould commented on his blog: "Nothing like a deadline to get me to finish something that has been dragging on for far too long. Well, I shouldn't put it that way; that makes it sound a little mechanical. I am shocked at the patience I showed in this whole process – there simply wasn't a full album's worth of quality material. Or, more accurately put, there wasn't an album of material which sounded like a coherent statement."

Mouldâ??s latest musical offering to the world happened when he teamed up with Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino. The two worked on a remix of Interpolâ??s â??Length Of Loveâ?, although a commercial release for the track has yet to be determined.

I dunno, but it's a bit much for not sure what to with so many cds. I would make more sense to release as a couple high quality mp3 discs, with that much material to wade through.
From my pal Rob in LA via the BJM board: Sunday night after the Warlocks/Morning After Girls show a bunch of people
came by for a late night hang at the studio. Robert from BRMC brought their
new record and proceded to blow us all away. It's VERY different but still
sounds like BRMC. I think it's the best thing they've ever done. There are
lots of acoustic guitars that sound incredible. They have a country
blues/gospel thing running through the whole record. It's awesome.

By the way Trevor, singer from the High Dials has been in town mixing their
new record and it is amazing as well. It's all over the map stylistically
but still sounds like the High Dials. VERY psychedelic. It's a bit
mellower, with one song that's kinda Smiths-like and others that are almost
baroque.

The third Tyde album is about 3/4 done and it is also full of great songs
and some fucked up sounds. Darren is writing some of his best lyrics ever.
Much of the record was recorded live with 6 or 7 people crammed in the
same room Dylan/Highway 61 style. Some of the titles include "Do It Again
Again", "County Line", "Too Many Kims", "Brock Landers", and "Aloha Breeze".
The stlyes are also all over the map but Tyde fans will not be
dissapointed.

There's another record that I'm producing that I guarantee will blow all of
your minds. The band is Meow Meow. If a mix of Beatles/Sonic Youth/Beach
Boys/Pink Floyd/Teenage Fanclub/Mercury Rev/Elliot Smith sounds appealing
then you're in for a treat. Their first record came out last year called
'Snow Gas Bones' and is brilliant but this new one is just fucking
tremendous. Their web site is http://www.meowmeowmusic.com. I think.

For what it's worth the new Warlocks stuff sounded great live as well.
Go buy the new Dead Meadow record!!!!
Contribute to the revolution. Music is not dead- far from it.
The Morning After Girls also were amazing the other night!!!
So much great music out there- you just need to find it and support it.

That is all,
Rob

p.s. Love the meow meow :D  ,Sparks

I don't care about the song titles, but am glad about the news about an upcoming release!

Dressy Bessy Have a New Album in the Works
Jason Toon reports:
We all know the thin Denver air turns Coors Field pop-ups into home runs. Might it also account for the preternatural catchiness of hometown pop worthies Dressy Bessy? Nope, no asterisks necessary: Their self-titled 2003 effort was recorded in New York with Britt Myers, as was Electrified, which tumbles into the arms of the public June 14 courtesy of Transdreamer Records. You want song titles? Song titles you shall have:

01 Second Place
02 Side 2
03 Electrified
04 Small
05 She Likes It
06 Stop Foolin'
07 Hello Hello
08 Ringalingaling
09 It Happens All the Time
10 Tay Tay Tay Again
11 Call It Even
12 Who'd Stop the Rain

They'll also have an as-of-yet-unspecified song on the soundtrack to the Yankified (or Red Soxified, as it were) movie version of Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch, out April 8. A June tour is promised, but until then, one show booked for the hometown faithful:

03-25 Denver, CO - Hi-Dive

* Pitchfork Review: Dressy Bessy: Pink Hearts, Yellow Moons
* Dressy Bessy: http://www.dressybessy.com/
Dreamend are coming out with a new CD/DVD later this year. Also, they will be reissuing their first 3 releases.

April sees the release of a retrospective double-album by The Fat Lady Sings on Warner Music, featuring many of the bandâ??s best-loved moments, plus a whole host of rare and previously-unavailable material. With the working title of â??The Fat Lady Singles (& Opera Obscura)â?, CD1 will include all 10 of the bandâ??s singles, while CD2 is composed of rarities drawn from across the bandâ??s career, including some never-before-released tracks.

And to celebrate this long-overdue event, the band have decided to reform to play two live shows, one each in Dublin and London â?? their first time appearing onstage together since December 1993. The details of the shows are as follows:

Vicar Street, Dublin â?? Friday, April 8th
Islington Academy, London â?? Saturday, April 9th
