i'll quote from above:

hah … that point was really insignificant to the rest of the piece, i was just really suprised to put the bloc party CD in and hear a jimmy eat world song … i've listened to it a few more times (track 10, "so here we are") and it's definitely it …
but it really has no larger relevance than a "subtle reference" in a 200 word review

like i said, it's a rather insignificant point, kind of funny that there's been so much backlash about it.
but thanks for offering such an informed opinion sonick, you're the best!

I can only hope you are choosing to act by your favorite word, "facetious".
No backlash about the band you chose to compare to Bloc Party. Sigh, I can only hope you see that eventually. Poor horse….Hey so time to move on…I hear these guys are going to the Bloc Party show!

quoted by hoyasaxa3:suki, you make me laugh.
yet again you just come a bit short of understanding what i'm saying.

Suki, yet again i'm not really sure where you're going with this … you wrote:
(d) beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. I like some of Jimmy eat world's songs and I'm not afraid to tell you that because you are no more "expert" about contemporary music than I am.
then i responded, letting you know that you misunderstood me, then you write:
Peter: It's an old theater tradition to blame the audience for not liking the performance.

Geeze people…if you really want to go to a show, get the tickets ASAP, pay the service charge. Sure it's absurd to be paying a service charge that costs nearly as much as the actual ticket as in some cases, but just suck it up. Really good bands are worth it. Plus I think i had a service charge of only about 3 bucks for my Bloc Party ticket when I got it from a ticketmaster outlet about 2 weeks ago.

I rarely miss getting tickets to shows, even though I always go to the clubs to pick up tickets – on occasion, I'll tickets.com for something like Interpol or QOTSA. Sometimes, though, you miss track that a particular new band might actually sell out. Also, I've been getting burned lately, holding extra tickets, so was waiting for some concrete yes or nos from my friends. This is my one frustration, as I'm not in to going to many shows on my own, but when I pick up four tickets on spec, I sometimes and left having to sell one or two. Ggggggrrrrrr.

With very few exceptions, I stopped buying tickets for friends a long time ago. I tell them when bands are coming and when tickets go on sale. If they really need me to buy a ticket for them, I'll probably break down and do it - but it's now their ticket. They still need to pay me for it, and it's their responsibility to try to get rid of it.
And the beauty of the board is that you're never really at shows alone. There's always someone from here you can probably hang with.
