very cool, i'll definitely be going.
So yeah, how do the previous buyers get tickets to this? if someone could post that info today that'd be awesome because i'm stuck at work today.

Seth mentioned that you should get an email with a passcode. I'm guess ticketmaster would be sending out the email since they have the records of you buying the tickets from last year.

…so what it you went to a ticketmaster outlet to buy tickets?
Hats off to Seth and his hard working crew for pulling this festival together. Personally I think Merriweather will be an ideal location for medium sized festivals and will be curious to see how it works out. It's a great location, has good facilities, parking isn't bad and SHADE! did i mention it has SHADE and places to get away from the madness…. I hope to get tickets and plan on slipping in for Franz Ferdinand and possibly Weezer
Now if we could only get a festival there targeted to the underserved Curmudgeon demographic at some point… It's really all about the SHADE

I fully expect the tickets to be gone before Saturday morning, taken by the first dibs people. If any of you first dibs people want to grab three tickets for me, I would be grateful….and promise I won't scalp them.
Seth,
What about people who bought tickets at a venue like 930 club for V-Fest in the past? Can we get in on the first dibs tickets?

Anyone tape it?

Seth talking about cupcakes and the forum. All the cynical people and doubters out there. Way to go!

I was reading Billboard and it said they won't say how many tickets will be on sale for this "pre-sale." You think it will be all of them?
I listened to it on my way to work but didn't tape it. I've never had the pleasure of meeting Seth, but he comes across as a genuinely nice, funny guy.
I thought his jabs at the cynical 9:30 Club forum posts were pretty clever. He mentioned two posts: one about Blink 182 being awful and how it pushed him to make it a really solid lineup, and the other about the price of beer and concessions (wml7's "20 dollar beers" joke). All concessions will be the same, normal price. He also said that he reads the forum every morning.
Seth said that he wanted to reveal the lineup weeks ago when talking to Elliot but couldn't (probably because Virgin told him not to).
He joked about selling cupcakes at Virgin FreeFest, and Elliot said they should be free. Seth remarked that it was a great idea, and he should give out free Virgin Cupcakes at the show.
Seth covered all the questions I had in the interview. And there's a 2 ticket limit per person. He said you can pay $5 to have tickets mailed ("convenience charge") OR pick them up for free at 9:30 Club or Merriweather Post Pavilion the week of the show. They'll be asking for $5 donations to charity, but nothing is required.

I'd also like to add that I'm excited about the show. The lineup is OK. Even though there are some bands on the bill that I'm not into, I'm viewing it as a great opportunity to see Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, The National, St. Vincent, and Girl Talk for free in the shade. I also really like the charity donations idea, the pre-sale for previous purchasers, and the free ticket pick-up at 9:30 Club. Well thought out!

I don't remember hearing Seth say the Virgin cupcakes would be free; in fact he clearly said that you'll pay the usual prices for food

Will the whole place (pit and all) be GA or are a few hundred thousand people fighting over a few decent seats?
so how does one get tickets for this?
the way merriweather generally handles GA shows is that the first XXX people get wristbands for the Orch Pit at the Pavilion. the next XXXX people get wristbands for the pavilion and after that, you're in the lawn.
I would expect the same here for the orchestra pit, but they could perhaps keep the pavilion less on lockdown.
its really the only way to stop from 20,000 people cramming into the pavilion. (i can imagine people with clickers trying to count who comes in and out!)

i think this is strange. i would have figured that they would have tied these tickets into dozens of marketing events, giveaways at shows, radio stations, etc. thats strange if they are just giving them away at ticketmaster.
btw, i'm so glad to see Pete Tong. i heart him.
theres actually a couple of band on there i like. and at a venue i dont hate. good job, seth. i'd actually consider going
do they email a presale code to those who went in years past?
Looking not too shabby for a free one day fest in the woods of Columbia.

After I heard the whole "previous V-fest buyers have first dibs" bit, I did something I rarely do, namely log into my ticketmaster account. Apparently you can see in your purchase history what tickets you've bought while "signed in" at ticketmaster. The two previous times I've been to V-fest (2006 and day 2 of 2008) are right there in my history. Perhaps if you log into ticketmaster before attempting to buy tickets tomorrow, it'll recognize you as a previous purchaser.
Seth said in the interview that it's gonna send an e-mail to you with the code

i wonder what the criteria for inclusion here is - only last year's VFest attendees? i was at the first Vfest - do i qualify?
I just got emailed the code, and I've never bought tickets to V Fest. Go figure.
